too sad to cry, so she smiled

September 24

A few days had passed, and Luke was still in the hospital. It had been revealed he had a minor heart attack, but was in pretty good condition. They kept him there just to run some tests, and decided it was safest if he was under 24/7 condition for a while.

Julie on the other hand had returned to work. They had been working on the song they were going to perform for Luke.

"I'm yours, mmmmhmmm." The kids finished.

Julie applauded, and her jaw was practically on the floor. "Guys that was incredible. I want that on a record label or something." She laughed.

"Let's hope your boyfriend likes it as much as you do." Corey joked.

"Corey, you are slowly moving down the favorite student list." Julie joked.

"Ms.Molina, there's a favorite student list?" Amara asked, intrigued.

"That's a secret I'll never tell." Julie laughed. "Now pack up your things, the bus'll be here in a moment."

The students packed their belongings, and boarded the bus shortly.

As they rode the bus, Julie looked and noticed Jordyn was sitting by herself. Jordyn was usually this happy, social kid.

"J? Could you come for a moment?" Julie said. Jordyn cautiously got up, and made her way to the seat in the front with Julie.

"Did I do something wrong Ms.Molina?" Jordyn asked nervously.

"No, don't worry." Julie reassured. "You've been super out of it lately."

Jordyn sighed. "Promise you won't tell anyone?"

"Unless it involves you hurting yourself or someone else, your secret is safe with me." Julie promised.

"My parents are separating." Jordyn sighed. "It just sucks. I thought they were happy. They just said they love each other, but not in a romantic way anymore."

"Jordyn, I am so sorry." Julie said.  "I mean they're both still gonna be in your life right?"

"Yeah of course. Just not together. I just feel so alone." She admitted. "With all due respect Ms.M, I don't think you'd understand what I'm going through. I'm sure your parents are still together."

"Were." Julie corrected. "Both my parents passed. But they were together until they passed. So I may not no what divorce feels like, but I know what it's like to feel alone, or as if you've lost something important."

Jordyn's jaw dropped, and she had a sympathetic look on her face. "Ms.M, I'm so sorry-"

"Don't be." Julie cut her off.  "So now, you're right. I don't know what it feels like, but I do know the feeling of being alone. And, I know I'm your teacher, but if you ever wana hang out, or need someone to talk to...I'm here."

"Thanks Mrs.Molina." Jordyn smiled.

Julie smiled back, and nodded.

They arrived at the hospital, and decided to go floor by floor. They started at 1, then 2, and then 3, and last but not least, they were on there way to 4.
