Survivor | John Murphy Love Story

I say we float him.

Murphy was being a dick today. He made everyone work all morning long and yet, he didn't even help. I knew that we really needed this fence but that's no reason to be an utter asshole, so I decided to spend the day with Kai. She had managed to get the lianas earlier and I had braided them, to make them thicker before throwing them back up to her, so she could climb down again.
"Hey, Bellamy", I called, jogging over to him:"Kai and I have been working on a viewpoint, you think you can get us someone to help?"
"Where is it?", he asked and I pointed over to where Kai was sitting. He called two guys named Tyler and Jared, to get us some wood. The smaller, muscular one was Tyler, I assumed. Jared was tall and lean, with dark blonde hair that was curled at his tips.
"Just put as many branches over here as you can, okay? Thank you"
I didn't follow them, neither did I go back to Kai. I just stood at the middle of the camp, looking over at John, who was bossing other people around. His eyes softened as he was me and I smiled at him. Guess we were good now.
"You son of a bitch!", Clarke cursed, pushing him away from the guy he was talking to.
"What's your problem?", he chuckled and she held up his knife. John was about to take it back when Clarke accused him of killing Wells Jaha.
"The Grounders killed Wells, not him. You know it. We all know", I spoke up, getting nervous. He wouldn't have killed Jaha, would he? Honestly, I didn't know what to think. I was with Kai all the time so I didn't see what he did or didn't do.
"I know what you did, and you're gonna pay for it"
Not even Bellamy believed him. Kai stepped next to me, seeming unsure about the whole situation.
"Is this the kind of society that we want? You say there should be no rules, does that mean we can kill each other with no.. With no punishment?", the blonde girl asked, looking around. How could she be this cruel? We were friends once, after all. She knew that down here, John was the only family I had left.
"I say we float him", the guy Murphy had pissed on earlier, Connor, suggested with a big smile on his ugly face. I was so angry I could have ripped his head off with my bare hands. Sure, John hasn't been the nicest person around here, but they couldn't just kill him!
"This is not what I'm saying, revenge isn't justice!"
Everyone was chanting with the black kid that wanted to float him. Suddenly John was being pushed to the ground, getting beat up by at least 10 people.
"No, stop!", I yelled, tears streaming down my face while Tyler and Jared had trouble holding me back. I struggled, desperately trying to get out of their grip, but not even the adrenaline pumping through my vanes helped me.
"Noah, listen to me! We are going inside now, okay? Don't look at what they're doing, just ignore them", Kai tried to calm me down, but she only made it worse. How was I supposed to ignore them when John needed me? I needed him. By now I didn't care what an asshole he sometimes could be, I just wanted to be with him.
"Let me go, I need to help him!", I screamed, trying to get to him. I didn't trust my own eyes anymore, as they had hung him up on a tree. Bellamy himself kicked the box away, my friend was standing on, ending his life. I broke down crying and screaming, it felt as if my heart was being torn apart. Jared picked me up and brought me into the drop ship. This can't be true. It must have been a horrible nightmare. John can't be dead, he mustn't be dead. I'm sure he was innocent, if only I had helped him sooner, he'd still be alive.
"It's all my fault", I repeated, punching the wall until the flesh on my knuckles ripped open, causing blood to trip down my dirty fingers.
"You need to stop", Tyler growled, roughly pulling me away. He grabbed my shoulders, making me look at him:"It's not your fault. There is nothing you could have done to hep him. You need to keep yourself safe now, you understand?"
I nodded, wrapping my arms around him. I had it all and lost everything.
