Chapter 4

General POV
Alex and Lois finish class and make their way to the driveway where Lois' car is located. On their way they bump into Kara and Nia. "Oh I'm so sorry I didn't meant to-" Alex interrupted Nia "No don't worry nothing happened we'll live" Nia smiled whil Kara just looked down.

Kara quickly grabbed Nia by her arm before Alex could talk to them any longer. She saw Elizas car, so she said goodbye to her friend as she walked to her mothers car. "Hey sweetie how was your day" Eliza greeted her daughter. "It was pretty good thanks mom, how was your day?" She said smiling. "My day was good thanks for asking baby"

When they arrived Kara sat down on the table with some chips while doing her homework. Eliza folded some laundry. They both talked and then decided they want to watch a movie. Kara picked out a movie while her mother got some more snacks. They cuddled up next to each other and enjoyed the movie.

After about an hour Eliza gets a call from Alex.
"Hey sweetheart what is it" Eliza picked up. "Hey Mom I finished tryouts early can you come pick me up? Lois had an emergency so she can't drive me" "of course honey we'll be there in about 15 minutes I love you" "love you too mom"

Kara turned off the movie annoyed and put on her shoes and a coat. Eliza grabbed her keys and they drove off. "The parking lot is closed up why don't you go and get your sister real quick" Eliza told Kara. She got out of the car and walked to the field seeing her sister talking with the team captain Maggie Sawyer.

"Uh why is this girl walking to the field?" Maggie asks. "Oh uh that's my sister, looks like my mom is here, see you guys" Alex said awkwardly. "Kara! Why did you come out the car! Mom should've called me!" Alex yelled at her sister. "Alex chill, mom sent me to get you so I did." "Well you shouldn't have a phone call works just as good"

"What is your problem with me today! This morning you were all caring, what happened!" Kara shouted at Alex. "I don't have a problem with you, I have a problem with the way you acted like when I told you about tryouts! You were so selfish that you made me feel bad for even going to the tryouts!" Alex shouted back "sometimes I really wish you would just shut up and not talk like you did when you first got here! I know for a fact you didn't bother anyone back then" Alex covered her mouth quickly all ashamed as Kara ran to the car crying

"Kara! Kara wait! I'm sorry I didn't mean it!" Alex never felt so bad in her life, she knows how hard Kara had it before she got to their house. She was called worthless before and Alex just did it again. Alex got to the car seeing Eliza comforting her sobbing little sister. "Alex get in the car" she said angrily. When they got home Kara ran straight to her room locking the door and Alex and her mother argued about the incident.

Alex's POV
Mom and I argued for a while, I feel bad for what I said, I love my sister with all my heart but the rage overtook me. I walk up to Karas bedroom seeing the door unlocked now so I walk in seeing her sobbing into her pillow.

"Kara? Can we talk please?" I ask as she comes up from her pillow. "What is there to talk about? You made your point" she said upset. "No Kara I love you so much I didn't mean anything! Yes I was mad about how you reacted because of tryouts but I didn't mean anything else!" I apologize many times until she finally hugs me "I'm sorry I overreacted, I love you" she told me. "I love you so much baby okay no matter what" I give her a kiss and lie her back down and say goodnight.

I went back to my room and stared out the window. Wondering what Kara went through. She lived with us ever since she was 6 but I really never knew the whole story, only that Kara was abused physically and emotionally.

General POV
The girls got a message that there is no school today because the temperature is too high so they got to stay home. Both of them slept in as Eliza made some breakfast.

Kara walked down first and gave her mom a big hug "Good Morning Mom" "Morning sweetie did you sleep well?" Kara nodded as she gave her mother a smile. Not long after Alex walked down as she greeted both of them with a big smile. All three of them sat at the table and enjoyed breakfast.

Alex goes to break the silence "hey Kara I don't mean to be pushy but, you've lived with us for 8 years now but I never really got your story, are you comfortable talking to me about it?" She asked. Eliza quickly interfered "Alex don't" Kara shook her head and said "No mom it's fine, I have to open up sometime anyways and I mean 8 years is a long time to not know anything about your sisters past"

They finished breakfast and got ready for the day. Eliza went off to work only half day though and the girls got comfortable on the couch. Alex was watching tv and Kara continued reading her book for a while before Kara decided to pull Alex into a conversation about her past.
