Chapter 10

*A week has passed, Kara no longer has her foot cast. It's Alex's birthday weekend she just turned 17*

General POV
It's Saturday. The girls usually sleep in on the weekend, but Kara woke up early to wish her sister a happy birthday. Eliza was up early as well, she began on making Alex's favorite breakfast.

Kara came running down "Morning Mom!!" She said excitedly. "Good Morning sweetie" she laughed "what got you all excited" she added. "I'm so excited for Alex's birthday! I got her a great gift and I can't wait for her to wake up!!" Eliza laughed at her bubbly,enthusiastic daughter as she continued making pancakes and eggs.

Alex came down the stairs just as breakfast was ready. Her sister ran up to her arms as she gave her the biggest hug "HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALEX" she said even more excitedly. "Thanks baby" "happy birthday sweetheart" Eliza told her daughter as she came to give her a hug and a kiss. She thanked her family and ate her breakfast.

Kara couldn't stop talking about her excitement to spend the entire day with her big sister. "Oh about that, I was thinking maybe I could invite my friends over mom" Eliza didn't have a problem so she agreed. Kara looked upset about it but quickly hid it. "Sorry Kara but my friends told me they wanted to come over badly, I promise tomorrow we'll hang out" Kara shook her head and said "No it's fine we can hang out whenever we want, and plus it's your day!" Alex looked at her sister with a big smile and continued eating.

Alex's POV
I can't believe I'm 17! Next year I'll be an adult. "Hey Alex I forgot to give you your gift" Kara said to me. I opened it and it was a Locket, she had put a picture of us inside and gave me a card that said "To my big sister, I love you so much and I hope you like the locket. Happy birthday. love, your kare bear <3" I have called her that ever since she came to our house.

I stood up crying. "Thank you so much Kare bear, I love you" I say as I give her a hug. I immediately put it on, I notice it was real gold. "Kara, baby this is real gold. How did you afford it?" I ask, she gave me a look "I saved up for it, it took a while but I had enough money just in time" she said. "Oh Kara" I say crying. I love my sister so much.

I got ready for the day, mom and kara had set some snacks on the table for my friends and I. "Hey mom does this dress look good" I come down and ask. My mom looks at me in complete awe and comes over to give me a hug "you look beautiful my sweet sweet girl" she said. I blush as I'm getting embarrassed. My little sister comes over to me with her amazed blue eyes and says "Alex you look so beautiful I love the dress on you" I smile and hug her.

"Girls I have to get the cake now, I'll be back soon" mom said. We nod and a few minutes later my friends arrive. "Make yourself comfortable, if you need anything just tell me" I tell them. We sit around the table and talk, then mom got back with the cake and set it down on the kitchen counter. "Does anyone want cake?" She asks. We had just eaten pizza so we declined but mom cut the cake anyways incase we want some later.

"I'm going to check on your sister" she whispered in my ear. Kara had been in her room ever since mom left. After about an hour Kara and mom left to go out until my friends left to give us some privacy.

It was 7 pm and my friends had all left now. Kara and mom got back 30 minutes later, I had already cleaned up the mess and sat down on the couch fidgeting with my locket. I loved it so much.

Kara and Mom arrived and brought me another gift, I opened it and it was a dress and some new soccer clothes. The dress was similar to the one I was wearing. I gave both a hug and put the bag away. "So how was it" Kara asks. "Oh it was great,we had lots of fun" I answer. We go to the table and eat some more cake before heading off to bed.

I go to Karas room like usual and sit beside her. "Thank you" I whisper in her ear. "For what" she asks, "Everything. You being my sister" she smiles and hugs me. We lay in her bed for a while, I tell her stories and she slowly falls asleep in my arms. I decided to stay and fell asleep in her bed not soon after.
