Chapter 4 seeing you for the frist time

Vera's P.O.V.

As I was sleeping on the sofa I suddenly woke up from a weird dream I just had. I sat up in confusion to see that my movie was over.
I then glance around the room and think.
'what woke me up?' Then a yawn escaped my mouth. Feeling too tired to figure it out, I grab the remote and shut the TV off then I pull my blanket over me letting out another tired yawn as I slowly set paw off the sofa. I freeze as I spot movement through the corner of my eye that came from the window.
I stiffen as terror fills my body. I'm too scared to dare look out the window.
I don't know what to do so I just stay completely still, hiding under my blanket as I pull it over myself not wanting anyone to see me. After five minutes go by I start to feel foolish, so I finally summon up the courage to look out the window, I peek through my fuzzy pink blanket and to my relief I see no one.
'Heh of course not. What's wrong with me? I'm just too paranoid.'
I continue to walk towards the stairs but as I reach them, I can see the kitchen window from where the stairs are, I'm not sure if I'm just Imagining things but I see a quick flash of movement once again that sends shivers up my spine, I run up the stairs as fast as I could, and bolt down the hallway towards my room, accidentally Slamming the door shut right behind me.
I feel my heart pounding a little as I peek out my bedroom window trying to see if there is anyone in the yard.
Then my bedroom door opens and I see two bright yellow rings glowing in the dark and know right away it's my brother.
"Vera? Is everything alright?"
I slowly nod my head.
"Are you sure?.. you seem on edge." I could hear the concern in his voice.
He worries about me a lot. But I don't wanna tell him that I think I saw someone outside because I already know that he'll go running outside with a baseball bat looking for them if I do, and I worry about him too.
I nod once again and he slowly pads towards me and then gives me a huge.
"It's ok little sis. don't be scared I'm always gonna keep you safe." I feel myself getting emotional as I tighten my grip on him hugging him harder, I tear up a bit thinking of the night of that storm. "S.Shade?"
"Yea?" I sob a bit. "D..d..do you t.think we'll ever see them again?" I ask.
He stiffens up and his ears droop down as he goes quiet for a bit.
Then he looks at me "I. I'm not sure but that's ok, we'll always have each other."
"You promise?" I asked and he dipped his head. "I promise." Then he picked me up and carried me to my bed tucking me in.
"Go to sleep sis.. you'll feel better in the morning." I let out another yawn. "Good night Shade." I say before drifting off to sleep.

As the sun rises the next day I get out of bed and ran over to jump in the shower, once I'm good and clean I dry myself off with a towel and spray on some of my favourite perfume and then head out the door wanting to leave early so I could have some time with my friends at the café before going to work.
"Bye Shade!" I call out before leaving.
Once I'm outside again I see that Solstice was checking his mailbox.
I slowly walk down our walkway hoping he doesn't notice me but to my dismay his ear flickers, and then he turns around to look at me.
"Vera!" 'Oh no! Not again!'
I run but then he stops me with his psychic power holding me so I can't move.
"Vera, I know you're always in a hurry but is it too much to ask that I can at least spend one morning with you?"
I got mad losing my patients. "What do you want from me Solstice?! Can't you see I'm running late?"
He looked annoyed "You have coffee with them every day I'm sure they can wait."
I let out a long sigh.
"Look I'm sorry to break it to you, but I don't want to go out with you," I say finally.
For a second he looked disappointed then his eyes narrowed a bit. "Excuse me but I don't believe you know me. You can't hate someone if you never, even give them a chance."
'Well, you kind of annoy me every day.'
I think in my head to myself then I notice his frown. "Vera please I'm not going to give up until you agree to spend time with me."
Then suddenly the Espeon was hit with a Shadow ball and I was released from his psychic grasp.
Shade did not look happy as the Umbreon used foul play knocking the Espeon off his paws then he pinned him down and snarled. "If I ever catch you using your psychic power on her like that again I'll make you wish you weren't living right next to us!"
Solstice looked scared. "Ok, I'm sorry! It won't happen again!"
"It better not!"
The Espeon got back to his paws and then quickly retreated to his house.
"Thank you, Shade."
I say as I hug him feeling relieved that he showed up in time. 'Solstice seems to be getting kind of pushy.' I frown, not sure if I should be concerned or not. 'I don't think he'd ever hurt me. But he does give me very uneasy feelings when he's around.'
Then the Umbreon looked worried as he glanced at Solstice's house. "I don't know about him. I feel like there's something off about that Espeon. Vera, please be careful."
I nodded. "I try, but it's kinda hard to avoid him when he lives right beside us. Plus I think you're overthinking it, Shade."
I say hoping he'll calm down.
But my brother seems to be lost in thought for a bit before he pulls his gym bag over his shoulder. "well, I'll see you later then sis." he says before running off towards the gym.
And I make my way to the café.
Once I arrive I see my two friends.
Kaylee cheers happily. "Vera! You made it today!" I yelped in shock as a feeler wraps around me and she pulls me towards them at the table.
"Was I missed that bad after one day?" I question sitting down.
The Sylveon nodded. "It was so boring and Rea is a boring Mon."
"Hey!" She snapped putting a book down.
"Aw, you're such a book caterpie!" the Glaceon looked annoyed. "Kaylee, do you ever plan on working?" The Sylveon placed a feeler under her chin in thought sarcastically.
"Hmmm, let me think about that nope!"
I try not to laugh then Kaylee giggled "You missed out yesterday that Flareon and Leafeon that come in once in a while had a cute friend with them." I look at the menu not listening "yea, that's nice Kaylee, did he ask you out?"
She shook her head. "No! Of course not. He was cute but not that cute! Please know I have my heart set on a Mon already."
She says her face turning into a blush and I roll my eyes already knowing that she's thinking of my brother.
Rea sighed. "That's kind of weird Kaylee why do you have to have a crush on her brother?"
"Umm hello? Have you ever seen him, Rea? Shade is hot! He's so fit and strong plus I see how good of a brother he is to Vera. He's perfect!" I felt very weirded out, I hated it when she started talking about my brother right in front of me. "Ok, Kaylee, umm back to what I missed maybe?" I asked wanting to change the subject.
Rea replied, "Oh some wild Vaporeon who's new to town."
That caught my attention. "So how come here then?" I question and Rea nudges me "Hey it was fun to watch his reactions. It was kinda cute like Kaylee said." I frown. I didn't like the idea of wild mons coming into town.
"wild mons, I don't think they should be allowed in town."
"Oh, Vera, they are Pokemon like us, why do you gotta be like that?" Rea asked
I shrug. "Well, they don't understand the difference. Plus wouldn't they just end up getting lost?"
"Maybe, but they can adapt in time I'm sure."
Kaylee giggled "Oh look here they come!"
I turned to see a Flareon and Leafeon enter the shop together but it was just the two of them.
Kaylee frowns and runs over to them "Hey where's your new friend?"
The Flareon turned red and the Leafeon just shook his head. "Heh, he's not really into town life." I rolled my eyes. 'didn't think so.'
Kaylee sighed. "Oh, well that's no fun."
They both sat down then the Leafeon looked at her. "You know I notice you three girls come here a lot. I'm Harvey by the way and this is my older brother Conan."
"I'm Kaylee and these are my friends."
She pointed a feeler at me. "This is Vera and the Glaceon is Rea." I get up, yawning, "And I'm late for work." Suddenly the Leafeon got in front of me with a smile. "Vera, that's a very nice name. I couldn't help noticing you're shiny." I feel frustrated. I hate it when guys try to flirt with me.
'Solstice is already annoying enough I don't need this Leafeon next.'
"Yea, ok well it was nice meeting you but I gotta run or I'm gonna be late."
"Oh, ok maybe we'll see you again tomorrow you know since we all like the same café in town."
Before I could say no Kaylee jumped with excitement. "That sounds great!"
Rea picked her book up off the table. "Well, I'll see you later Kaylee I'm off to the library in town." Then the Glaceon padded off, and as I was leaving I stopped to order a coffee to go.
Suddenly Harvey approached me. "Hey."
I ignore him then he speaks again. "So Do you go to the beach often?"
I nodded. "I love the beach but I like to go on days where it's not so crowded because then I get lots of mons staring. I kinda hate being watched."
"Ok, have you ever been in the ocean?"
I raise a brow at him. 'Why is he asking me this?.'
I shake my head. "Um, just because I'm a Vaporeon doesn't mean I like the ocean."
Just the thought of it made me shiver, as I picture it being really big and filled with lots of sea mons I wouldn't ever want to come across. When my coffee was ready I grabbed it. "Ok Vera, have a good day at work me and my brother look forward to seeing you and your friends again tomorrow."
I roll my eyes. "Look I'm only gonna say this once. I'm not interested in anything other than friendship." I say strictly then his face turns red "Oh no I'm sorry I wasn't hitting on you was I?"
He looked embarrassed. "Heh, I'm sorry I wasn't aiming for that." I nod feeling a bit awkward myself. "Oh, ok then. See you tomorrow." Then I take a sip of my coffee and start walking to work.
