Chapter 18 A Suspect 

The Past
Third P.O.V.

Vera and Shade were going for a stroll through town. It had been 12 years now since they had moved in and they grew pretty fond of the town quickly. Leo and Flitz had helped them whenever they needed it but now they were fully evolved and old enough to start taking care of themselves. Shade had evolved while training at night and then found a Waterstone a few days later while berry picking. Shade had grown very protective over Vera seeing how there were some weirdos in town. He had always gone out every now and again for berry picking while Vera just waited for him. at the house. He always took a lot of time to practice his moves and train a lot as he had become over protective. As they were looking at a fruit stand a Sylveon had approached them. "Tea heh. Hi~" She sheepishly said while gazing at Shade. He looked slightly confused. "Ahh. Hi." He replied not showing much intrest. "Kaylee come on!" Came another voice and Glaceon padded out. The Sylveon then padded over to Vera. "Whoa, it must be nice being shiny! My name is Kaylee by the way and this naggy Glaceon is Rea." Rea rolled her eyes and then glanced at the shiny Vaporeon nervously. "It truly is nice to meet you. Ahh, what's your name?"
Vera's face turned red as she replied. "I'm Vera and this is my older brother Shade." The Umbreon gave them both a long look. "Why are you so interested in meeting us anyway?" Vera looked more embarrassed by his rude remark. Kaylee however just ignored. "Oh, I know why don't you both come out with us tomorrow?"
Shade grunted. "And do what?"
"Ahh, you're such a stick in the mud! Come on it'll be fun." She said again once more. Vera glanced at him. "Come on Shade. There can't be any harm in making new friends can there?" He finally stifled a sigh of defeat. "Ah, ok I guess." Rea dipped her head politely. "OK, we'll see you tomorrow then. Come on Kaylee lets go." Shade looked at Vera. "So.. New friends? Does this mean you'll spend less time with me? We do everything together and I don't know if I trust that Sylveon."
Vera shrugged. "Shade, I Appreciate that you take care of me but I wouldn't mind making friends as well." He frowned. "But we're best firends." She hugged him. "And we always will be." suddenly there was a big white flash and they both jumped in shock. A Espeon with a camera around his neck smriked at them. "You two make such a cute couple!" They both turned red and pulled apart looking disgusted by that comment. Shade growled. "Dude! That's my sister!" The Espeon cracked a big smile. "Oh?... so she's single?" Vera looked a little uncomfortable. "Allow me to introduce myself. I am Solstice and I'm a photographer. I can catch any Photo from any angle. I'm kind of new to town here." Vera gave a polite smile. "I'm Vera.." The Espeon gave her the pic that he just took. "I'll let you keep that one for free. It truly is nice to meet you." He said with a warm smile and then glanced at Shade who looked very annoyed. "If you must know I'm Shade. Her brother.. And I don't take too kindly whenever others make Googly eyes at my sister." Now the Espeon looked embarrassed. "Ahh, I'm gonna go now. Hope to see you again." He said as he left. "Come on Vera, I think it's about time we start heading home." She followed him as it started to rain. Once they got back they couldn't help but notice Leo had a big for seal sign outside of his house. Shade looked upset seeing that. "Leo is moving?.. Uhh, I'm gonna miss him."
Vera looked just as disappointed as they went inside for the night.

One moon later

Vera was out by herself browsing around town. She had become close friends with Kaylee and Rea over the past moon and surprisingly Shade also made a new friend with a Jolteon named Zane. At first, Vera thought it was strange that they were hanging out with their friends separately from each other but was now getting used to it. As she was walking a random voice called her name. "Vera, looks like we are meeting again." She paused to see that same Espeon she had met about a moon ago. She let out a friendly pur. "Solstice right? How are you doing?" She asked. He smiled. "I'm doing just fine thank you for asking. Selling Photos is becoming a big success for me." He glanced at her. "You know I've never seen a shiny before... you really are fascinating. Can I get a picture with you?... you can say no if you want." She paused for a moment and then shrugged. "Uhh, I suppose one couldn't hurt." He got excited. "Great!" He placed his cramma on a stand and set a timer before running over to her. As Vera waited she suddenly felt shocked as the Espeon warped his arm around her and pulled her close to him at the last second. *Flash* The Espeon smiled at her as he showed her the picture. "Looks nice eh?.. I'm holding onto this one." Now Vera felt weirded out as she barely knew the guy and now he had that picture of them that looked as if they were together like a couple. "Hey, sorry for all of a sudden but are you doing anything later?" He asked. Vera was about to say no but there was something about the way he was looking at her that made her feel uncomfortable. "Oh, I would love to hang out with you Solstice. But I can't unfortunately I have plans to see my other friends." He nodded. "Oh, that's alright. Perhaps another time." Vera started walking away deciding that it might be best just to head home.
