Chapter 5 just to see you again

Shade's P.O.V

I was sitting on the sofa in the living room beginning to doze off as a movie was playing on the T.V. My friend Zane was sitting in an armchair eating popcorn from a bowl.
My ears begin to droop as I'm getting very tired and as I'm closing my eyes, giving in to sleep feeling the deep wave of tiredness take over me I catch a glimpse of a mon standing right outside the window. My head immediately shot uoright, my eyes snapping wide open in shock as I looked at the window to see they were now gone. A growler escapes my muzzle as I get up and pad towards the window to look outside, not feeling scared in any way.
'if anything they should be afraid of me.'
Zane looked puzzled "Are you alright bud?"
"I saw someone I'm sure of it if it's that vaporeon-"
"Jezze Shade calm down. I think you're just being a bit Paranoid."
I clench my teeth. "I know what I saw Zane, someone is outside." Then at that, someone knocked at the front door.
*knock* knock*
Zane then sat upright in the armchair quickly grabbing the remote and pausing the movie.
His yellow thorny fur spiked up with electricity currents flowing through it looking ready to attack.
I don't hesitate to grab my baseball bat that I keep right by the door then pull it open clenching my bat tight in my paws just ready to swing it into the stranger's head as the door swings open. Then to my surprise, I met face-to-face with an all too familiar Espeon.
Solstice looked startled by fast I pulled the door open and saw me with the baseball bat ready to aim a blow.
"EIIK IT'S ME SHADE!" He yelled, sounding scared ducking his head back as I locked eyes with him. I then settled down, putting the baseball bat down, taking a deep breath before I glared at him. "Solstice, Why are you here?" I ask in an Unfriendly tone. He then gave a sigh of relief "Whoa you kinda had me worried there for a moment. Heh, I thought you were gonna hit me with that bat." Zane seems to have relaxed as he unpaused the movie and went back to eating popcorn. I narrow my eyes. 'Something about this Espeon just doesn't seem right.'
"Well, I wanted to see if Vera was ok, I feel bad from earlier today." He said looking troubled. I raised an eyebrow at him. "How did you know her store got robbed?" I asked then his ears drooped. "Because I'm the reason it happened. That vaporeon got mad at me, those disgusting wild mons they just don't belong in town. He makes a good example of one."
"Umm, what do you mean?" I asked.
"Look I said some things to him that made him attack me then I ran into the store and that's when he broke in. I just wanted to see if Vera is ok, may I see her?"
I stared at him in shock. "You mean to say that you saw my sister was in trouble and instead of helping her you just left?"
He had a shameful look on his face now.
"l...look I didn't mean to. I'm sorry, let me see her.." Then without even waiting for an answer he tried to forcefully come into my house. I blocked him by putting my arm in the doorway. "Solstice I didn't say you could come in." The Espeon looked annoyed. "Look, I just wanna talk to her."
I shook my head ."Go home Solstice." Then suddenly he charged at me shoving right past me. That's when I grabbed him and held him up against the wall feeling my hatred take over.
"No, now you listen here! Solstice I just about had enough of you! You're a real creep you know that?" He looked scared as I lost my temper. Zane yelled and ran over "Shade! Let go of him!" At that, I loosened my grip on him releasing him and letting the Espeon fall to the floor. He scrambled back up to his paws, but he didn't look scared this time as his purple eyes blazed with rage and something about the fire in his eyes gave me an unsettling feeling. He looked mad as his ears pinned back.
"Shade, Don't make me your enemy. I did nothing to you!" He spat making me feel more infuriated. "If you creep on my sister then you got a problem with me!" I hissed back holding a battle stance. "I don't wanna see you bothering her anymore. She doesn't like you Solistic and neither do I! As long as you continue to creep on her I am your enemy! And it's you who better watch your back because I'm not scared of you!" Zane stood tall beside me. "yea Solstice."
"Very well then," he grunted looking defeated as he retreated to the doorway and then cast a glance back over to me. "Shade all I want is to be happy in life. But you're getting in the way of that. I didn't do anything to you."
I growl "She doesn't like you. How many times do I have to tell you that?"
"No Shade you're wrong. I think she does like me. it's you who keeps saying that I'll go for now but perhaps in time you'll see that I'm right." Then he finally left.
Zane let out a long sigh before padding back to the armchair. I walk over to the window to watch him walk away. I can't explain it but somehow I get the feeling that there's just something about Solstice that I feel I don't know about, and it worries me sometimes. I can't tell if it's just me being an overprotective brother or if there's something suspicious about him.
"Shade relaxes, he's gone now." I try to relax but can't as my mind goes back to the Vaporeon.
'Why would he ask where we live? Does he wanna hurt my sister too?'
Then I felt a soft paw on my shoulder "You need to take it easy bud. You're just full of stress, calm down." then I start to realize he may just be right.
'perhaps I'm overthinking things.'
I walk away from the window. "I guess I'm just so used to looking out for her." my memories start to go back to that dreadful night of the storm. My ears droop as I remember the trauma I experienced that day. I promised myself I was never gonna let anything bad happen to my sister because she's all I have left. it has always been just the two of us.
Zane let out a tired yawn "Hey umm I'm gonna go now just try to get some rest ok?" I nod my head as I watch the Jolteon leave heading out the front door. I locked it up behind him once he was gone then started to slowly drag my paws back up the stairs feeling drowsy with sleep.
My paws feel heavy as I walk up the stairs and then pad into my bedroom.
Once I reach my bed I just collapse into it and close my eyes falling asleep.
