Warren was no stranger to heat, she'd been burning up for the better part of six months. But that was nothing compared to the feeling of kissing Percy.
It was clumsy in the beginning, the way first kisses always are, but when she felt his lips smile against hers, it was like every nerve ending in her body ignited at once.
"So does this mean we're together, or..." Percy mumbled into the kiss.
"Well, I can't let anyone else have you."
He smirked. "Possessive much?"
"Mmm, extremely," she said, pecking one of his dimples before pulling away.
When they re-entered the throne room, flushed and hand in hand, Warren felt like everyone on Olympus was staring. They weren't. But still, Aphrodite beamed like she'd just won the lottery. Ares glared at Percy from behind his sunglasses. His expression said it all: You break her heart, I break your kneecaps.
When Annabeth and Grover found out the news, the satyr bleated in defeat.
"Baahh! Darn it."
"Drachmas, please," Annabeth said smugly, holding out her palm. Grover fished a handful out of his pocket and huffed.
"What's going on?" Percy asked.
"We had a bet," she explained. "I said that you and Warren would get together before the New Year. Grover said by the end of next summer."
Warren wanted to sink into the floor and die of embarrassment. She crossed her arms and growled, "Are there any other bets that I should know about?"
"Um...."
"Annabeth," she said dangerously.
The blonde at least had the decency to look ashamed. She leaned close and whispered in Warren's ear, so Percy couldn't hear. "Have you kissed yet?"
"Are you serious!" Warren shouted, cheeks blazing.
"I'm sorry!"
"Ugh," Warren groaned. "Not that it's any of your business, but yes."
Annabeth's face split into the most self-satisfied grin she'd ever seen. "You just made me so much money."
"THALIA!" she suddenly shouted, jogging off toward the dance floor. "THALIA IT HAPPENED! PAY UP!"
Percy looked around, confused. "How many people were in on this?"
"Only most of camp," Grover admitted.
"Gover," Warren said calmly. Too calmly.
"Yeah?" he gulped.
"I'm gonna give you two seconds to run."
Warren tore a rip up the side of her red satin dress chasing Grover, Annabeth, and Thalia, but it was just as well. The party was over. It was finally time to return to camp. She and Percy were more comfortable in their ratty quest clothes anyway.
