When they came to, Serena, Alec and Isabelle found themselves in a dark, empty Institute, all the screens playing static, the world seeming slightly duller.
"We're in the Institute," Alec noted as they scanned their surroundings.
They then heard the sound of children laughing and swords clanging as they ran towards the training room to find younger versions of themselves having a four-way duel.
They watched as they joked as they fought, the twins against the siblings, which soon turned into boys against girls when Alec called them both softies and the boys both ended up with a blade at the throat and a blade at their stomach, the two girls moving in perfect sync as they disarmed their brothers.
"I remember this. This was the night Mom and Dad went on a mission in Geneva, and we snuck downstairs to train," Alec said with a nostalgic smile.
"It was the night when I first realised that I wanted you as my parabatai," Izzy said to Serena who smiled and side-hugged the girl.
"And what's the rule when our team goes into battle?" younger Izzy asked.
"Four go in, four come out," the other three had said in unison before they went back to training and then younger Alec, Izzy and Serena vanished, leaving young Jace all on his own as he started panicking.
"What just happened?" Izzy asked before young Jace ran off.
"Jace!" Alec called as they chased after him into the halls of the Institute, halls that were more like a maze, with exits and entrances that weren't there before.
"What the hell?" Serena asked as they stood at a fork. They went to turn around only to find themselves face to face with a brick wall.
"Stay close. We can't lose each other," Alec said as they began walking forward.
"Is that the Jace we need to bring back?" Izzy asked.
"I don't know," Serena admitted. "He didn't disappear with the memory which makes me that that's the real Jace that's trapped in here. Or at least a part of him."
"And the memory of us that burned away?" Izzy questioned further.
"Maybe part of Lilith's torture is taking away everything he loves," Alec answered and a noise behind them made Serena turn for a fraction of a second before turning back to find Izzy and Alec gone.
"Izzy?! Alec?!" she called only to get no response.
Guess all she could keep doing was moving forward.
