Boran alp P.O.V
I patrol around Sogut, checking on merchants, and making sure everyone is following the law. I see Osman Bey walking toward me, Goktug and Cerkutay behind him as I finish helping a merchant carry his goods. "Selam Aleykum, Bey," I greet and Osman Bey nods at me. "Wa Aleykum Selam, Boran. We have to go check on Malhun Hatun's tribe and see if they need anything." Osman Bey says, then he turns to Goktug. "Goktug, go to the Cuman tribe. They will probably want revenge against Nikola and we can use that." Goktug presses his hand to his chest and goes on his way.
"Cerkutay, you will patrol here in Sogut. Make sure everyone is dealing fairly. Boran, you will come with me." Osman Bey orders and most of the alps go to their separate duties, leaving 2 alps alongside Osman Bey. We walk towards Sogut's stables and untie our horses. "Come on, Boran. Let's see what this tribe has in store for us."
We reach the tribe and I'm surprised by how much work has already been done. The structure of many of the tents has already been built, but I know there's still a lot to go. Umur Bey's tribe is known as the largest Turkmen tribe around, much bigger than Kayi. Some merchants have told me that a lot of the tribesmen think Osman Bey is young and reckless. They don't think they should obey Osman Bey when they have much more power than him.
Bahadir walks up to us as we get off our horses, "Osman Bey, Malhun hatun invites you to the bey's tent." Osman Bey nods to him, pressing a hand to his chest. We walk towards the tent and just as I'm about to turn and wait outside, the door opens. Malhun hatun walks out. Erhan right next to her. I turn to Osman Bey in confusion, but he seems just as confused. 'What is this Mongol dog doing here?"
"Come, Osman Bey. We will talk in the tent. Bring your alp with you." Malhun hatun calls and I turn to Osman Bey. I can see the wheels turning in his head, trying to make sense of this. Osman Bey nods at me and gestures to follow him as he walks up the stairs to the tent. I stand slightly behind Osman Bey and Malhun Hatun stands in front of the Bey chair, Erhan still by her side. "Osman Bey, Erhan alp is innocent." 'What the hell-'
Erhan wears an innocent face, "I did work with the Mongols, but only because they threatened my family. But, I wasn't the one who ambushed Osman Bey." I clench my fist as I feel my anger bubble, "You lying piece of-" I take a step forward, but Osman Bey grabs my arm. "Sakin (Calm down), Boran." Osman Bey whispers and I take a step back, keeping my fists clenched at my side. "Do you have any proof it was him, Osman Bey?" Malhun hatun asks and I see Osman Bey clench his jaw. 'Yeah, I have a scar across my chest, wanna see?' I think, refraining from rolling my eyes.
"We were both there, and the rest of my alps were killed." Osman Bey says, "And you dare to say he didn't do it?" "Erhan alp is under my protection, he has been forgiven for working with the Mongols since he did it to save his family." Osman Bey keeps his ice-cold stare on them both, and I see Erhan look away from Osman's blazing gaze. My blood boils, 'Does Malhun hatun seriously believe his crap?' "Malhun Hatun, defending cruelty and betrayal is a betrayal within itself." Osman Bey says, keeping his voice steady and even. "Know that justice will always prevail," Osman Bey warns before turning and walking out of the tent, gesturing me to follow.
"Bey, what will we do?" I ask, really hoping for some kind of answer. "We'll see, Boran. We need to try and prove to Malhun hatun that he is a traitor." I just nod as I clench and unclench my hand around my sword. 'I need to go punch a tree again,' I think. 'That's pretty pathetic, Boran. You can't punch the guy, so you have to punch trees instead.' I climb onto my horse and grasp the reins, following Osman Bey back to the tribe.
When we get back to the tribe, Osman Bey heads into his tent and I pace in front of the stables, debating with myself. 'Should I go punch a tree?' 'Boran, stop being such an idiot.' 'I want to punch something.' 'This is stupid.' 'You know what? I'm going.' I get back on my horse and ride out of the tribe.

I watched Boran enter the tribe, but instead of going anywhere, he paced in front of the stables. I see him clench and unclench his fist, in a way he only does when he's angry and doesn't know what to do. Then, he stops, thinking for a moment before getting back onto his horse and riding quickly out of the tribe. 'I should go after him, he's probably going to get himself hurt.' As I stand up Bala asks, "Where are you going, Gonca?" "I'll be back soon, Bala. Don't worry." Bala just nods slowly and I head to the stables, grabbing the reins of my horse.

I stop at a similar tree to the one I punched before. I send my fist at the hard bark of the tree, whisper yelling every insult I could think of at Erhan. Soon the insults turned away from Erhan and more at myself. Blood started to drip from my knuckles when I felt someone hold my arm back. "Boran, stop! What are you doing?" Gonca says, holding my arm to my side. "I'm punching a tree," I say dryly. I can almost feel Gonca roll her eyes.
I lean against the tree, sliding down to sit against it with my knees bent in front of me. Gonca sits beside me, "Care to explain what the tree ever did to you, Boran?" Gonca asks smiling slightly. I explain everything that happened at Malhun hatun's tribe, and Gonca just nods slowly. "So, you decided to punch the tree because you couldn't punch Erhan?" Gonca asks and I chuckle. "Yep."

I look out at the empty plain as I sit next to Boran against the tree, only a few trees stood scattered around on the green ground. I feel Boran watching me, and I turn, facing him. "You're beautiful, you know that right?" Boran says quietly looking up from the ground and at me. I feel my face heat up and I smile at him. "You're handsome, you know that right, Boran?" I shoot back and Boran grins, blushing. He knocks his hat off his head and flips his hair as the wind blows through. "I know," Boran says cheekily. I burst into laughter, "You're ridiculous." I say trying to stop laughing. Boran opens his mouth to say something, but then thinks and says, "I know."
A/N: I hope you all enjoyed this chapter, and let me know what you want Erhan to do next. That last scene has been in my head for a while and I really love it. Also, I really suck at taking compliments, so whenever someone compliments me, my immediate move is to compliment them back. I just realized I did the same thing with Gonca in that scene.
Please remember to pray for our brothers and sisters in Palestine 🇵🇸
