After a quick shower and changing into leggings and one of Tony's band shirts that I had stolen, I leave my room and head to the kitchen. Running my fingers across the wall absentmindedly, as I hum a tune to myself.
Walking into the lounge I see Steve and Bucky sat together on one of the couches, Steve is talking as Bucky just nods along to what he is saying. On another couch is Nat, who is reading a newspaper while sipping on a coffee.
In the kitchen I find Tony stood at the coffee machine, strumming his fingers impatiently on the countertop, his frowning at the machine makes me smile.
"You know, the more you watch it the longer it'll take." My voice makes him jump and he turns to me, frown still in place.
"It takes the same amount of time whether I watch it or not" His eyes flick to the machine and then back to me. "Is that my shirt?"
"Yeah but if you watch it, you're aware of the time it takes and even though its only a minute it feels like longer." I grin at him as an idea comes to me. Waving my hand in a spinning motion I summon yourself a hot cup of coffee. "But what would I know" I finish with a shrug, smiling as the coffee machine finishes up.
He takes his coffee and moves to stand next to me, both of us lean against a counter looking into the other room, quietly drinking together.
"When do you start sorting out terminators brain?" He speaks quietly so no one in the other room can hear our conversation.
"Today actually, I figured it would be better to make a start sooner rather than later." I see his nod from the corner of my eye but he doesn't speak up again, I can feel the tension rolling off him though.
"What is it Pops?" I turn to look at him now, the worry on his face melts a little at my words before his face changes completely, his usual confidence settling back into place.
I give him a confused look at this change but his eyes flicking past mine to where the others sit, giving me all the explanation I need. He doesn't want others to hear us.
"So you can read minds now right?" His voice takes on a edge, he's clearly asking more than that. I nod to him and let my power flow inside me, taking a breath I penetrate his mind, it's easier than I expected it to be.
What's wrong Tony?
I want you to be careful, I know you are doing this for Barnes and I'm proud of you for wanting to help him out. Just watch out for Rogers, you remember what happened last time you got a power boost.
Steve walks in at that moment, pausing when he sees us both leaning there in silence. I smile at him and vanish my cup. Picking up a piece of fruit I walk out of the kitchen and sit on my couch.
Yeah I haven't forgotten about that. With shield gone there really isn't much he could do though.
I hear Tony scoff in my mind and I try to hide my smile as he walks in the room, head held high.
Of course not. God I'd love to see you kick his ass, I might instigate it just to see that happen.
I can't help but let out a snort of amusement, causing everyone to stop what they are doing and look over at me.
Shit. Dammit Tony!
He gives me a smirk before walking out of the room whistling to himself. I cut of the mindlink with him and focus my attention on Bucky.
"You ready to start?" I ask him, pretending that nothing had happened.
I can see Nat giving me a curious look before putting her head back in her paper.
