I am Leal

Remembrance

"Let me go! Leal! No!" Cody yelled at the people holding him down. He kicked and punched but it was to no use. Five of his own brothers held him to the ground of the gunship as they escaped Lola Sayu. Two of them where Rex and Woffle and even they had trouble holding their brother down.

"Cody, calm down!" Someone shouted but he refused to give up. He couldn't give up on her. She was his life what was he supposed to do.

"Let me go!" He screamed and kicked and he could hear someone groan in pain.

Suddenly he could feel a prick at his neck and someone injected him with something. He rears up one last time before his muscles relaxed and he drifted into a forced slumber.

Everyone was silent as they watched the commander until Naz started crying. "It's all my fault!" She cried out and Euphoria wrapped her arms around the youngest.

Nobody dared to say something until General Kenobi spoke up. "She died saving us. That is a very honorable death." He sighed and strokes his beard. "She fulfilled her purpose." Tarkin spoke up and all eyes drifted towards the cold man.

Euphoria got up from her position. Her blood boiled about his words. "What do you mean, Sir? Please elaborate that for me!" Euphoria says grimly. Woffle moves in front of the Captain to protect him from whatever would happen next.

"She was a soldier of the grand army of the republic. Her solely purpose is to fight in this war and die if necessary." Tarkin explained disinterested. "You take that back!" She yelled and tried to punch him but Woffle held her back. "She had more honor in her little finger than you in your whole body!" She screamed and resisted against her commanders arms.

Tarkin raised an eyebrow and eyed the girl before him. "I see what this malefunction has done to you clones." He says and it was the last straw for Euphoria.

"Malefunction? Malefunction? When I am through with you, you will be the malefunctioning one!" She screamed and suddenly she could feel a hand on her shoulder.

"Calm down, young one." Her general stood behind her and Euphoria growls and eyes Tarkin for a moment. "Watch yourself." She snarls and raised a finger at him. "Trooper, stand down!" Woffle exclaims angrily.

Usually Euphoria never was the one who got angry easily. That was Karas job. Kara was the hot- tempered one. Whereas Euphoria would laugh the words off. But Kara was awfully quiet. She hadn't said a word since the general ordered her to follow the course. Euphoria pants and pushes her commanders hands away and moves towards the back of the gunship where she couldn't see Tarkin.

It was silent again everybody tried to process what just had happened. Naz sobbed silently in Rexs arms and held onto him for dear life. Ahsoka couldn't do anything about the deep guilt inside her. Leal had just come along because Naz and she had refused to comply. So the guilt laid deep in her soul and she couldn't look at her friends anymore. She was responsible and this loss hit her deep.

The gunship landed in the hangar and the group separated from each other. Woffle watched as  his sedated brother was being escorted towards the med bay. He couldn't quite believe his own good eye as he had tried to calm Cody. Cody had never been one to let his feelings get in the way of a mission but what had been transpired was far deeper than he could possibly fathom.

Woffle knew his brother too well to know that Leal had been more to Cody. And he didn't know what to do with this kind of information, not yet at least.

Cody walked defeated towards the barracks. He could feel his brothers eyes on him but he didn't look up from the ground. The world seemed so dull and lifeless without her.
