— JJ's POV
I saw the flash of his black fur cross my field of vision as Sergio pounced onto the couch yet again today. Rossi had the team over for dinner tonight and Henry begged us to let him stay the night with his Grandpa Dave, so Emily and I gave in and decided to come home and have a movie night to ourselves. It wasn't to ourselves, however, because Sergio was stealing all of Emily's attention. I groaned under my breath as he crawled into her lap, purring as she lovingly pet his fur. As ridiculous as it sounds, the happy flick of his tail was making me jealous. I hated battling a cat for Emily's attention.

I scoffed and leaned back against the arm of the couch, inching my legs toward where Emily was sitting. She picked Sergio up with one hand and placed him onto the floor, "C'mon, buddy, you gotta chill for a minute." She moved my legs over onto her lap and mindlessly traced patterns on them. I sighed happily at my triumph over the feline.

I softly said to Emily, "Mmm that feels so good." My contentment didn't last long, as I felt the familiar feeling of fur grazing my bare leg. I looked up and rolled my eyes when I saw Sergio settling down between my legs, making a space for himself and asking Emily for more pets with his adorably dilated eyes. He 100% knows how cute he is. When she refused to touch him, he meowed and nudged his head into her hand. She relented and dismissed me so she could start scratching him again. I moved my legs off her lap in anger, only causing him to curl up into a ball in comfort. I nestled into the fetal position in my spot on the end of the couch and set my head down in defeat.

To my surprise, Emily actually noticed how closed off I was and asked, "You okay, babe?"

To my surprise, Emily actually noticed how closed off I was and asked, "You okay, babe?"

I shrugged, "Fine."

"Jayje what is it?"

"Nothing."

"Are you mad at me?"

"No."

"You're being weird, what's going on?"

I said a little louder, "What's 'weird' is the fact that I have to compete with your cat to get some of your fucking attention!"

She laughed, "What? No you don't!"

I sat up and pouted, pointing at Sergio, "He keeps climbing into your lap!"

"He's a cat, what do you expect him to do?"

"But this is supposed to be our movie night and he keeps... getting in the way." Emily silently stood up, with Sergio positioned in one of her arms, and carried him up into the attic. I heard her plop him down and walk out, shutting the door behind her. She walked back down to the living room reprised her spot in the couch.

She smiled, "Better?"

I moved over to curl int0 her side, "Much better."

"What are you doing? My lap is no longer occupied you know..." I giggled and sat up to straddle her lap, caressing the sides of her face and capturing her lips in a soft kiss. She snaked her hands down my sides, eventually finding my ass and giving each cheek a light squeeze. She mumbled against my lips, "Is this what you wanted, baby?"

"Mmmhmm."

She pulled away and kissed my neck before saying, "I love you so much, JJ."

I lifted up her chin and kissed her forehead, "I love you too, Em."

She muted the TV, "Hey I have an idea for something fun we can do."

"What? We're already doing something fun..."

"True. But this'll be fun too, come on." She stood up and kept me in her arms as we went upstairs.

I asked as she walked into our room, "What are we doing?"

She set me down in our closet and instructed, "Grab a hoodie, we'll be outside."

"I'm not grabbing anything until you tell me what we're doing, Em."

She excitedly said as she shuffled on some clothes, "Just do it, trust me." I trusted her, so I followed her instructions and met her downstairs when I was finished. Emily pulled me outside and into the garage, telling me to get into the car while still refraining from telling me her plans. She drove us the short distance across the Potomac to a small forest preserve called Poplar Point. She parked on the edge of where the trees stood and told me to get out of the car.

I tiredly asked as she dragged me into the woods, "Emily what are we doing here?"

"Shhh just stay with me." We walked for another minute or so, hand in hand, before reaching a spot somewhat deep into the woods. She stopped and pointed up, "Look." I glanced up and saw a bare spot in the trees, making almost a perfect hole in the canopy and allowing a decent amount of soft moonlight to peak through. The moon wasn't visible from the spot, but we could clearly see a plethora of constellations painted on the night sky.

I admired, "Wow... It's beautiful."

Emily wrapped her arms around my waist from behind me, "Just like you."

"Em, that's so corny."

"It definitely is, but it's true."

I smiled, still looking up at the stars, "How'd you know about this place?"

"I used to come here when I was a kid and my mom was still posted in DC. It was just a nice escape."

"Escape from what?"

"I don't know... Stress... Stressful situations. Like sometimes my girlfriend's cat would climb onto her lap and steal all her attention from me—"

I laughed, "Oh shut up!" Emily chuckled and kissed the side of my neck. I pointed at one of the constellations, "So what are we looking at, what's that?"

"Ursa major."

"Really?"

"Don't know, could be." I laughed loudly at her humor, causing her to swoon, "I love your laugh, it's so cute."

"You're obsessed with me."

"No, according to you I'm obsessed with my cat."

I smiled and sighed, "Okay I've had enough of the cat jokes." I shook out of her arms and started to walk back to the car, "Let's go home."

"But that's where Sergio is!"

I yelled back, now several feet in front of her, "Shut up!" I kept slowly trudging through the forest until I reached our car. I waited a couple minutes for her. Then a couple more. I started to get worried when there was no sign of her for about 5 minutes. I shouted, "Emily?!" No reply. "Emily?!" I hesitantly walked back into the brush of the woods, continuing to shout for her with only silence in response.
