Love Is In the Air

— Emily's POV
Love is back in the air in the Prentiss/Jareau household. Well, it was never out of the air, but fighting always puts us on the outs for a day or two. Nevertheless, we're back to our gushy selves and finally set a date for the wedding. We chose March 15 because that's the one-year anniversary of our first date. It's approaching on one month away, but all attention was turned to Valentine's Day right now.

"You made the reservation for dinner tonight, right?" JJ asked me as she walked into the kitchen.

I picked my head up from my laptop, "Yeah, why?"

"Just making sure, because I didn't."

"Nope, I made it. Tonight for 7:00."

She stepped over and placed a kiss on my forehead, "Perfect." She ran her hand through my hair and said, "It might be time for another trim for you."

"Mmm only if you do it."

"Always." Just then, Henry burst through the door from the backyard. JJ laughed, "Henry, buddy, slow down!"

He ran behind my chair and panted, "Penny's chasing me!"

Penelope jogged inside and excitedly asked, "Where'd he go?"

I pretended like I had no idea, "Hmm not sure, Pen," but Henry burst into giggles and revealed his position.

Penelope smiled, "I'm gonna get ya! I'm gonna get ya!" Henry ran around and tried to escape Penelope's grasp but it was useless: he was smothered.

JJ asked him, "I guess you're excited to stay with Auntie Penelope tonight, huh?"

He cheered, "Yeah!"

JJ told her, "Oh, Pen, before I forget I need to um... ask for your opinion on something."

I scrunched my brows, "You don't wanna ask me, babe?"

"Nope."

"Oh come on, I'll help."

Penelope asked, "What is it, Jayje?"

"It's uh... a Valentine's Day... outfit." JJ winked at me and I felt my face heat up, likely turning a bright red.

She smirked, "Ooh I see. Upstairs we go." I let them have their rendezvous upstairs while I occupied Henry and helped him get ready to go to Pen's. Several minutes later, she and JJ made their way back downstairs to collect him.

I suggested to JJ, "Babe, why don't you go with them to say goodbye at Pen's?"

"Why?"

"Just to be with him a little longer." I needed a reason to get her out of the house for at least 20 minutes.

"Okay. Don't you wanna come?"

"I have a little more work to do, I'll see you when you get back." I placed a quick peck on her lips and said my goodbyes to all of them before grabbing my keys and leaving once the coast was clear.

I pulled back into the garage after coming back from Pen's and quickly made my way inside to see Emily. When I kicked my shoes off in the foyer and set my bag down, I realized the house was completely quiet.

"Emily?" I called out, but there was no reply. I gingerly walked around the house, looking for her. When the first floor was cleared, I headed upstairs, still calling her, "Emily!?" I furrowed my brows when I saw our bedroom door was closed. Confused, I slowly pushed it open and gasped when I saw Emily squatting on the ground, holding a small black lab puppy.

She smiled and encouraged him, "Go on, go to Mommy."

I knelt down as he waddled over to me, "Who's this?"
