Chapter 47 - Adriana Vs. Brandon

"No matter what happens, we're friends, right?" Adriana asked nervously as her & Brandom stood up. He glanced at her nervously. "Yeah, of course. Let's both do our best," he smiled. I think Brandon thought he was going to lose...

I watched nervously as Brandon & Adriana walked up to the stage & through the doors. They both looked uneasy across from each other on the battle field. "Who do you think is gonna win?" I heard Red ask beside me. "I... I don't even know," I studdered. "Either way, one of them is gonna be pretty upset..." Richie bit his lip. I nodded & gulped nervously.

Adriana sent out her Pokemon first, her Bayleef. Brandon sent out his Dewgong. Bayleef began by using grass moves, like Razor Leaf. Dewgong won, using Icy Wind & Ice Beam, which were super effective.

Next Adriana used her Nidoqueen, which did take a lot of damage from Dewgong's ice & water moves. The two ended up fainting at the same time after Nidoqueen was hit with Waterfall & Dewgongwas hit with Poison Jab. Brandon was ahead at this point...

Adriana sent out her Marowak as her third Pokemon. Brandon used his Blastoise.

Even though Marowak had a disadvantage, it did well. It hit Blastoise with a powerful Bone Club, but the big turtle Pokemon used Aqua Tail on Marowak, ending that match.

Her fourth Pokemon was Vaporeon, which did get hit by a Gyro Ball from Brandon's Blastoise & a Skull Bash, but used Aqua Ring to help restore a bit of health occasionally. Then Vaporeon took out Blastoise after using an Iron Tail & a Shadow Ball.

Brandon next released his Anorith, who ended up fainting at the same time as Vaporeon in an explosion between the two moves Ice Beam & a really powerful Ancient Power that led me to believe Anorith would probably be evolving soon...

Adriana's fifth Pokemon was Magneton, & Brandon's fourth was Arcanine. I remembered when that menacing Arcanine was only a tiny Growlithe. Arcanine took out Magneton without much trouble, & was only hit once, by a Thunderbolt. A Flare Blitz from Arcanine knocked out Magnemite in one hit.

Adriana's final Pokemon, which I already knew she was going to use, was Lapras. Her Lapras attempted a Sheer Cold, a one hit ko move, but it missed. Arcanine used Extreme Speed to dodge it & ram into Lapras.

Lapras landed a super-effective Waterfall, making Arcanine struggle to get up. Arcanine then used Wild Charge, hurting Lapras pretty bad. "Wow, Brandon was smart to teach his Arcanine Wild Charge," Red said, examining the screen carefully. I nodded & watched as Lapras cringed & Arcanine used another electric-type move, Thunder Fang. The two Pokemon were really tired now. A Water Pulse by Lapras hit Arcanine & Brandon freaked out. He saw his Pokemon injured & recalled him immediatley.

His sixth Pokemon, which I also knew he was going to send out, was Dratini. Ice Beam was aimed but Dratini pretty much slithered out of the way & used a Thunderbolt. Looks like I wasn't the only who had been using excessive TM's on my Pokemon...

In the end, Dratini used a Psychic attack to stop Lapras' Water Pulse, & then finished it off with a Thunderbolt.

Adriana... Had lost...?

When the battle was over Dratini was horribly hurt. Brandon picked up his poor dragon Pokemon & came to the big room where all the trainers were held, & healed his Pokemon using this machine on the far side of the room.

Adriana walked in moments later, looking down. Poor Adriana... Brandon said something to her, & she smiled & hugged him. He came back to us, leaving her to use the machine next. "Wow, Brandon, you were great," Red said as soon as he sat down. Adriana sat down moments later & we told her she did well, too.
