Chapter 49 - Red Vs. Champion Lance

The first person to battle was the only girl who made it into the final four. She battled Will. She actually did very good, but she lost against his Bronzong, which knocked out her final three Pokemon; a Mightyena, an Ampharos, & a Typhlosion.

Next came Damien, the douchebag trainer, after about a fifteen minute break in which Will healed his Pokemon. He also lost! Bronzong knocked out his Kingdra, with difficulty, though. Bronzong was on the verge of fainting itself after taking Kingdra, Damien's final Pokemon, out. Will's Grumpig was a big help, taking out four of Damien's Pokemon by itself.

Richie came next. He actually won! He had difficulty, of course, but he managed to win.

Then came Lorelei. She used her Cloyster first. Richie's Alakazam was a big help in this battle, & he won.

Next he fought Bruno. He suprisingly won against Bruno, too. His Blastoise helped him a lot, it's Hydro Pump's were amazingly powerful.

He lost, however, to Karen. Her Umbreon was really strong, & had such great defenses. He looked really disappointed, but he accepted his defeat.

"None of the final four contestants have even made it to the Champion! Will Red be able to make it to the Champion! Will Red beat the Champion? Or will Lance remain untouched!" The announcer yelled dramatically, hurting my ears.

Red beat Will quicker than Richie did. He also beat Bruno, & Lorelei a lot more quickly & skillfully than Richie did. He struggled against Karen, but he actually beat her! He was going to battle Lance!

I got nervous as I watched Lance step onto the battle field. I had seen them both battle once, & they had extraordinary skills. Who would win?

They released their Pokemon at the same time. Lance released his Haxorus, & Red, his Kabutops.

First, Red's Kabutops used Ice Beam, since Haxorus was weak against ice. Lance's Haxorus countered it with Dragon Pulse, & both moves colided & had a pretty big explosion, since they were both really strong.

Lance had Haxorus use Brick Break, hitting Kabutops with the super-effective fighting type move. Kabutops fell to its knees, but quickly got back up & used Blizzard. Haxorus took the attack & flinched from the pain, but seemed to take the attack better than Kabutops did.

Haxorus used Earthquake next, further injuring Kabutops, who was pretty weak now. Kabutops responded with a Stone Edge, knocking the tall dragon Pokemon down. Haxorus got back up though, & used Dragon Tail, which Kabutops countered with X-Scissor. Then Kabutops used Dig. Haxorus used Earthquake & Kabutops popped out of the ground, noticably tired. Haxorus finished it with a Dragon Claw. Haxorus looked a bit tired as Red sent out his next Pokemon, Venasaur.

Venasaur shot a Sludge Bomb directly as Haxorus, poisoning it. Haxorus attempted a Dragon Claw, but Venasaur used Grass Knot to trip it. Still on the floor, Haxorus used Dragon Pulse & hit Venasaur.

Venasaur used Sunny Day & aimed a powerful Solar Beam at Haxorus, but it dodged & hit the grass-type with Aerial Ace, hurting it pretty bad. Unfortunately, Haxorus' poison got bad & a Razor Leaf, although not very effective, had Haxorus on the ground. Lance could have made it continue to battle, but he retreat it.

"Ladies & gentlemen I can't believe what I'm seeing! The challenger, Red, has taken out one of Lance's Pokemon! He is the first challenger in the history of the Indigo League to defeat one of Lance's Pokemon! Could there be a new Champion today?" The announcer questioned as Lance released his Gyarados.

Gyarados began with an Ice Beam straight at Venasaur, who took it like a champ. Gyarados took some damage when hit by a Leaf Storm. It responded by using Blizzard. I was certain Venasaur would have fainted, but was suprised to see it get up, just barely. However, Lance quickly took it out with a Flamethrower.
