I hated water. There, I said it. I hate sinks, showers, water fountains, anything with water. Especially the rain.
'It's just rain, it's just rain,' I desperately tried to remind myself. Still, once I thought rain, my mood dropped faster than the raindrops. I pumped my legs to their limits, running through the storm. I grit my teeth, trying to resist the flashbacks in my mind.

A boy smiled warmly as he tossed the ball to a little girl. She laughed jovially as she easily caught it. "Alright," she said. "Try to catch...THIS!" She heaved the ball with all her might. The projectile sailed far over the boy's head, disappearing in the grassy plain behind them. He giggled as the girl flustered deeply and turned away, her brown locks turning with her head.
"Home run!" She huffed.
"That was a mistake!" he whined. "Why don't you...go..." He looked up and saw the grey skies overhead. A bolt of lightning, then...

CRASH!
I shouted in pain and terror as I scrambled away. The lyrics did nothing to drown out the noise of the rain. The thunder still echoed throughout my mind, like the aftershock of an earthquake. My mind screamed at me to run for my life, and my body obeyed.

CRASH!
"AAUGH!" The boy shrieked in terror at the thunder and buried himself into the woman's arms, who embraced and soothed him.
"Shhh..." she cooed. "Everything's alright..." She held him as he writhed and sobbed. The storm continued. In an attempt to calm him, she started to hum. For a moment, the child froze.
He took a moment to listen to the gentle melody. It felt...encouraging. His eyes started to grow heavy. As she sang to him, his weariness got the best of him. The sound of thunder could not overwhelm the lullaby.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I wished that she was here. At this point, I would swim across the ocean just to hear her voice again. But the only thing I could hear was the roaring of the storm, trying to take the life that escaped from it all those years ago...

As he sunk into the depths, his life flashed before his eyes. The pride of his father when he won a race with the other kids, the affection of his mother any chance she got...
...the innocent smile of his sister.
'Where are you..?' he thought before closing his eyes.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"WHERE ARE YOU?!" I cried out. Bonnie...she'd know how to calm me down...she's the only one who does anymore... "Please..." I choked. "Come back..." Tears streamed down my cheeks. I hated this feeling...the feeling of being alone when you need it the most, the crushing loneliness.
I felt...abandoned.
I fell to my knees, covered my ears, and sobbed. I couldn't take it anymore. I didn't want to be here anymore.
