Song is Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes.
So, I have not seen The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies in some time, so there will be some changes to the original. Also, Padfoot's presence will change some things. There will hopefully only be a couple more chapters in the book after this, although the length of it will change depending on how I decide to finish it. I hope this longer chapter makes up for the previous shorter one. Please enjoy this chapter!Padfoot's POV
Things have been pretty much the same for the last couple of days. The Elves marched all day, almost without pause. They fed me in the morning, and very few words were spoken. It had been two days, and I still had little idea as to where we were going, or even what I was doing there. I had assumed that it had perhaps been because Thranduil couldn't spare a single elf to keep an eye on me, but then I saw the strange glances that the other elves were throwing at me, and I was forced to consider other possibilities.
Did they mean to trade me for something? Perhaps they thought that I meant something to the dwarves, (in which he could not be more wrong,) and they would trade whatever he wanted for me. Then again, even if the dwarves had some sort of sentiment attached to me, would they trade their treasure for my miserable life? After all, they did not know of my human form and mind. But then again, Beorn did make them promise to make sure that no harm came to me. So far, they really had done a bad job. Since joining them, I had been captured by spiders, elves, and then elves again.
I was mostly a compliant companion on our long journey, not willing to push my luck. Finally, after what felt like years but what was really days, we were rewarded by the sight of a lonely mountain springing up from the plains. I had never been so glad to see such a change of scenery in my life. Before, the scenery consisted of trees, trees, more trees, and did I mention trees? I had seen enough of trees to last me a lifetime. If I ever get out of this situation, I am never living anywhere near a large forest if I can help it.
This time, the caravan did not stop to rest during the night, and continued on towards a ruined city. However, despite the ruins, the presence of the torches and fires decorating the city bespoke of the life within. It was nearly dawn when we reached the gates. Thranduil then stopped and sent a group on ahead of him to herald his coming. Did I mention that Thranduil reminded me of Malfoy sometimes? A minute later, Thranduil made his way inside, followed another minute later by my cart.
At this time, the sparsely populated ruin was slowing awakening. When we reached the welcoming party, however, there was a great uproar at the sight of the food present. I was mostly ignored, not that I minded, as two elves helped pass the supplies down to the obviously starving people below. So this was what the food was for. I looked around and saw that a grateful man, who seemed to be the leader of this people, was talking to King Thranduil, who seemed to respond in his usual cold way. Unfortunately, I could not hear the words said given the commotion surrounding me.
I did happily allow a pair of shy girls to run their fingers through my fur, but that was all of the contact that I was allowed before the elves shooed the people away from the now-empty cart. The cart was taken to one of the tents being set up by the elves nearby. I was allowed out of the cage to stretch my legs for a few minutes, before I was fed, watered, and forced back inside.
Unfortunately, it was another long while before I was able to overhear anything interesting. As it happened, my cage had been placed outside of King Thranduil's tent, so I was able to overhear any important meetings that he had. The highlight of the day we arrived was when I discovered that the dragon was dead, hence the relocation of these people to this ruin. They had killed the dragon, losing their town in the process. The dwarves were still inside the mountain, but had not communicated anything to them. I did learn that King Thranduil was after some kind of necklace, and he seemed obsessed with obtaining it.
