chapter seventeen

A couple days later. Cesar is now staying with Ruby after staying at Jamal and Monse's house. I'm glad he has a place to stay again.

I woke up and got dressed. I looked out my front window. Of course my brother had the Santos over. Jamal was talking to my brother. It looks like Jamal was struggling or nervous.. probably both.

I went outside.

"I- I- Spooky where- um is Jade"

"I don't know why don't you tell me" Oscar said trying to be scary and it was working

"Calm down Jamal.. he's just kidding" I said putting my hand on Oscars shoulder

Oscar sat back down and started laughing.

"Ready to go" Jamal asked

"Where?"

"Ruby's garage"

"Let's go.. see you later Oscar" I said as Jamal and I walked to Ruby's.

We all went into the garage and started talking about the money being cursed. It was right in front of us.

Ruby and Jasmine left the garage to work on stuff for the baby.

Jamal and I went inside the kitchen and started talking to Ruby's abuelita.

Later that night I was at Jamals.

I texted Oscar.

"Hey staying the night at Jamals again"

"Sounds good goodnight"

"Goodnight Oscar"

Jamal laid down next to me and shut the light off. He rolled over to face me and opened his eyes. He started screaming and fell off his bed.

"JAMAL!! ARE YOU OKAY?!" I yelled concerned looking over the bed

"Your side of the bed" Jamal said

I looked at my side again and there was a gnome.

Jamal was checking the security footage in his room.

"Oh my god.." He whispered looking up from his phone

"What?" I asked standing next to him

"Chivo was here"

He grabbed something from his nightstand.

"Jesus Christ you almost hit me with that" I said trying not to get hit

Jamal opened the closet and Chivo was in there.

He got out and sat next to Jamal on the bed while I sat on Jamals desk chair.

"How the hell did you get in here?" Jamal asked Chivo

"I don't remember" Chivo said

"So you know I took it?" Jamal asked him

"I know and I want it back" He said

"But it was never yours it belong to you it belonged to your cousin"

"My cousin?" Chivo questioned

"He wasn't your cousin?" Jamal and I both asked at the same time

"He was my buddy"

"So then you lied to us" Jamal said
