2. Breaking the ice

The next day, when Eren arrived the cafe was still closed and Levi was already there standing in front of the door. He was wearing a dark coat that looked a bit too big for him, a red scarf and a matching beanie

"You look really cute"

"Excuse me?"

Fuck, why did I say that out loud?

"You talking'to me?"

"There's no one else here" Levi said in an accusatory tone

"I know, it was just a movie reference..."

"Which movie?"

Eren felt proud of how he managed to get out of the situation

"Taxi Driver"

"Haven't seen it"

"We could watch it sometime..."

Dear god Eren, first you tell him he's cute and then you ask him out?

"Sure"

Well that wasn't what I expected, much better actually

Eren was about to seize the moment and keep talking while he was on a roll but then the owner, which Eren had only met once, arrived. The tall blonde man opened the store, greeted them and then as Levi walked in he grabbed his shoulder

"Levi, can I talk to you?"

"Tsk. Do we have to Erwin?"

"No, but I want to."

"Not on work hours."

"I'll wait for you when you get out then"

"Okay, fine." Levi replied feeling defeated

Eren was surprised on how close Erwin and Levi seemed. He was also intrigued as to what would they discuss, but what affected him the most was that Levi staying after work to talk meant they wouldn't be walking home together that night.

The day went on and his co-worker Connie kept scolding Sasha when she kept eating bits of the cafe's food, as fun as it was he spend the day looking at the raven, who always had an icy-glare which Eren received whenever he got caught staring. Once he even thought he'd seen him smile at him.

Eren was always the last to leave, he was so oblivious that it always took him a while to realize it was time to leave. As he got out he heard a crash inside Erwin's office, he moved towards the sound carefully and saw through the slightly open door Levi being held against the wall, resisting to Erwin who was kissing his neck.

"Stop it you moron, I told you it's over"

"Then why did you came here?"

"Not for this, now get off please"

But Erwin didn't budge and began to slip his hand inside Levi's shirt

Eren felt his blood boil and threw the door open

"He told you to get the fuck off"

Erwin got off and Levi slipped to the ground, both looking shocked

"What are you still doing here Eren? This is none of you business"

"We walk home together, don't get him mixed up in this" Levi intervened on behalf of Eren

"Together huh Levi? you work fast"

"Shut up, we'll talk tomorrow"

Eren stretched out his arm to Levi and to his surprise he took it, saying coldly

"Let's go"

Eren felt very embarrassed, he had, after all screamed to his boss and his crush was holding his hand, all he could mutter out was a sloppy "sorry"

Erwin looked too taken aback to react so Levi left calmly while pulling Eren's arm

Once they were outside they started walking and both males were extremely quiet, but Eren finally spoke out what he'd been thinking

"So... that was intense"

"You're just really fucking nosy aren't you?"

"Thank God I am Levi, god knows what he could've done to you"

"You're not my mother you religious freak"

"You could at least say thank you... I don't know why do you hate me so much"

"I don't hate you"

"Then say thank you, now I just feel like I interrupted a... moment, which did not look normal by the way, so please tell me if he's your boyfriend?"

"What's it to you?"

I Just need to know if you're single

"I just want to know if I fucked up" Eren replied

"It wasn't a moment and I am grateful, it's just... complicated!"

Levi reassured Eren eventhough we was almost screaming at him. All Eren did was suddenly wrap his arms around Levi and hugged him tightly, who didn't quite responded but Eren felt the smaller man's slender body relax.

Both seemed to have enjoyed the hug since they stayed like that for more time that it's acceptable but this time Levi broke the silence

"I... I really don't hate you"

Eren felt his heart warm up and was left speechless, which he regretted after the raven spoke again

"I think I'll take a taxi, it was a long day"

"Oh, okay, it's fine"

They finally let go of each other and Levi quickly stood up a cab.

"Thank you, Eren"

It was the first time he heard the pale male speak his name and it left him feeling a bit dizzy

"Thank you, Levi"

"What for?"

"For not hating me...?" Eren replied jokingly

Levi laughed quietly but is was the most adorable thing Eren had ever seen or heard

"Good night Eren, see you tomorrow"

Eren said goodbye but the taxi was already leaving. He felt so happy he even jumped and screamed a little bit, then he started walking home.

Why didn't I take that taxi with him!? Is that what he wanted!?

I don't understand him 

NEXT CHAPTER: Eren will be more obvious about his feelings for Levi / There will be some Armin!
