Two days after the kiss, Amy was in her living room with Mandy. They were watching a fashion show but Amy wasn't paying any attention to the TV. She was still in shock over what happened in Kyle's bedroom. Thinking back to the kiss she shared with Kyle, it was like deja vu, like her first kiss with him. That kiss also happened in his bedroom and it was her best birthday present that year.
Why did he kiss her? Why does he always take her by surprise?
After so long, he just decided to kiss her again, then what? He leaves with no explanation like the last time. She needed answers, but how did she get one this time when she had been avoiding him?
"Hey. Hey! Are you even watching the show?" Her best friend asked, snapping her fingers in Amy's face, to get her attention.
"Sorry. What were you saying?" Amy stuttered when she realized she was in a trance.
"Duh! I was just telling you how awesome it would be if you became a model." Mandy replied with heavy sarcasm.
"Like seriously, Amy. What is wrong with you? You've been acting strange these past few days... Is something wrong? You know you can tell me anything"
Amy stared at her best friend's concerned eyes, contemplating whether or not to tell her about the kiss. She desperately wanted to tell her everything the second Mandy had dragged her out of Kyle's bedroom, but she was scared of her best friend judging her. Like how she didn't mean to kiss back, but she did. And how just a single touch from Kyle still affects her, probably because he was her first crush.
All these thoughts were preventing her from saying anything to her best friend.
"Amy, I'm listening," Mandy said in a sing-song voice.
"I-um..." She tried to make out a sentence but she couldn't.
Mandy gave her best friend an encouraging look, gesturing for her to go on.
"Kyle kissed me," Amy said in one breath. She wanted to get it off her chest and the only person who could help her with that was her best friend.
"What?!" Mandy yelled, immediately covering her mouth with both her hands.
"What do you mean, Kyle kissed you?" She whisper yelled, joining Amy on the couch, as she was previously sitting on another couch.
"Am I missing something here?" She continued, staring at Amy, eagerly waiting for her to explain further.
"It happened two days ago-"
"Wait. Was it the day I came to get you from his bedroom?" Amy nodded in affirmation.
"I knew something was up"
Amy didn't say anything further because she had nothing more to say.
"Did you, you know... kiss back?" Mandy was hoping her best friend would say no, but Amy didn't say anything which could only mean one thing. She kissed back.
"Oh my God, Amy! Why did you kiss back?"
"I don't know, Mandy. I honestly don't know... It just happened"
"You can't call that 'just happened' Amy... This isn't the first time this is happening... Aren't you and Bryan a thing anymore?"
"Of course we are. It's just-"
"You still feel something for my brother" Mandy interrupted her.
"I love Bryan. I really do... Kyle just has a certain effect on me. I can't explain it"
Amy couldn't put into words what she felt when she was around Kyle. It's far different from what she feels for Bryan. Maybe, it's because she hasn't talked things out with Kyle since the first kiss.
"You and Kyle kissed, Amy. That certainly means something, especially for Kyle" Mandy hinted to her best friend.
"I would like to know something" Mandy suddenly said, facing her best friend. Amy raised her eyebrow to show that she was listening.
"Did you like the kiss?"
"Well... I-" Amy was interrupted by approaching footsteps. They belonged to Bryan. She and her best friend stared at each other with wide eyes.
Amy had forgotten that Bryan was upstairs with her dad. He was leaving for Italy today on a one-week business trip, so he came to say goodbye as promised.
Her best friend quickly signaled for her to go talk to Bryan. Amy took a deep breath and stood up from the couch.
"Are you leaving already?" She asked, nervously tucking her hair behind her ears to conceal her shaking hands.
"Yes," Bryan replied, stealing a glance at Mandy, who was pretending to be engrossed in her phone.
"Can I see you outside for a minute?" Amy wanted to know if Bryan heard anything. She tried to study him through his body language, to see if something would give away that he was angry, but she found nothing.
They're now both outside the front door. Amy was praying within herself that he didn't hear her conversation with Mandy.
Should she tell him everything once and for all? That wouldn't be a proper way to say goodbye, she thought to herself. What should she do?
Bryan was patiently waiting with expectant eyes for what Amy had to say. She took two steps towards him, keeping only two inches distance between them.
"I..." Amy was about to confess the kiss with Kyle when the front door suddenly swung open. She quickly moved away from Bryan.
"Amy, you can call Bryan later and tell him what you want him to get you. Right now.. he has a flight to catch" her dad said as he closed the front door behind him.
Amy forced a smile, mentally face-palming herself for wasting so much time. She gave Bryan a quick hug, mumbling,
"Goodbye"
"I'll see you when I get back," Bryan said as he returned the hug.
Amy waved them goodbye as her dad drove Bryan to the airport. When her dad's silver Maserati was out of sight, she entered the mansion.
"Did he hear anything?" Mandy anxiously asked the minute Amy stepped into the living room.
"I don't think so" Amy sighed in reply, unsure of her answer.
