"Where did I go wrong as your father? What did I ever do to deserve such betrayal?!"

"This isn't about you, Dad. This is entirely about me. I love Bryan!"

"I don't want to hear you utter those words again!"

Henry and his daughter, Amy, were having a shouting match in their living room after returning from Bryan's place.

"I can't help it, Dad. Bryan is the only man I want to be with!"

Henry raised his hand to strike his daughter in a fit of anger but stopped himself midway. It took every fiber in him to stop himself from actually hitting his daughter.

Amy, who flinched away in fear, thinking that her dad was going to hit her, regained her composure when she realized that he couldn't do it.

"Why don't you do it, huh? You didn't think twice before hitting your best friend"

"Amy!"

Henry loves his daughter so much and would never do anything to hurt her, but at the moment she was pushing him too far and he didn't like it one bit, because knowing the kind of person he was, he could do something he'd regret for the rest of his life.

"You're grounded" he suddenly said, dropping his hand to his side.

"You can't possibly do that. I'm not a kid anymore!" Amy angrily retorted.

"I'm your father and I can do as I please.."

Amy shook her head in disbelief. This can't possibly be her dad. The person before her isn't her dad, but someone else.

"From henceforth, I don't want you leaving this house until your summer break is over"

"Dad!"

"To your room! Now!" He yelled with authority, which compelled Amy to run to her bedroom in tears.

Henry angrily slammed the flower vase on the coffee table on the floor, screaming out in frustration. Right there and then, he made a promise to himself that he would make Bryan pay for everything. He will make him regret ever crossing the limit of their friendship.

Two days have passed since the incident at Bryan's house. Amy has refused to eat or drink anything, as she was deeply concerned about Bryan.

Did his maids find him lying unconscious in his living room and call an ambulance? Or did Sean return home and immediately rushed his dad to the hospital?

Is Bryan responding well to his treatment? Or is he still unconscious? Amy couldn't help but worry as he was badly beaten by her dad.

She didn't even have the chance to know if any of her guesses were right because her dad not only forbade her from leaving the house, he hired bodyguards to make sure she didn't disobey him, and also seized her phone and laptop, leaving her emotionally depressed.

Henry worried about his daughter's emotional, physical, and psychological well-being and called his ex-wife.

Paula, who was beyond shocked to hear that Henry had found out the truth, quickly drove over to his house after receiving his call.

"Where is she?" She asked the moment she stepped foot in the house.

"She's in her room" Henry simply replied.

Paula took quick steps upstairs and into her daughter's bedroom, not bothering to knock. Her eyes became teary when she spotted Amy sitting on the floor, with her knees to her chest.

"Honey, what are you doing to yourself?" She asked with a shaky voice as she rushed to Amy's side.

"I need to see Bryan, mom. I need to know how he's doing" Amy said in a soft voice.

"I'll do that for you, sweetie. Mom will check on Bryan. Just promise me you'll eat something," Paula said in return, as she couldn't think of any other way to get her daughter to eat.

"You promise?" Amy's bloodshot eyes stared into Paula's brown ones with expectancy, causing her heart to break into a million pieces.

"I promise, baby. I promise." She hugged her daughter, placing kisses on her head.

At that moment, Henry walked into the room.

"What did you do?" This question was directed at Henry, who Paula was glaring at.

"I did what had to be done and I have no regrets... As a matter of fact, I'm not through with him" Henry drily admitted, earning a sob from Amy.

He was unaffected and unapologetic for what he did or was about to do to Bryan.

Paula reluctantly pulled away from her daughter's side and walked up to Henry.

"How can you say that in front of our daughter" she hissed, dragging him out of Amy's room.

Henry was trying to conceal his anger and disappointment in Paula, who kept such vital information from him.

"Henry, what did you do to Bryan?" She asked for the second time, worried that Henry may have gone extreme.

"You know what?... All of this is your fault!" He finally gave in to his anger.

If Paula had told him any of this sooner, he would've put a stop to it before it went any deeper.

"Me? How?... The last time I checked, Henry, Bryan was your best friend, not mine!" Paula countered with the same level of anger.

"How could you keep this away from me?!"

"And how could you have been so careless with our daughter!"

Amy covered her ears to muffle her parent's argument. She hated it when they fought because they always argued on account of her. She should've moved out of her dad's house when she had the chance.

None of this would be happening if she had her own place, Amy concluded within herself, fresh tears falling down her eyes as she tried to zone out from her parent's yelling.
