"You look beautiful," Paula said to her daughter with a proud smile, as they both stood in front of the mirror.
"You think so, mom?" Amy nervously asked, checking herself properly in the mirror to see if she missed anything.
"Look at me, sweetie." Her mom held her in place.
"He's going to be at a loss for words when he sees you... Whoever he is."
Amy laughed at her mom's last statement, and it helped ease her nervousness a bit.
"Thanks, mom. I promise I'll reveal his identity when I'm ready."
"I hope it won't be when he breaks your heart."
"Mom!"
"I was only joking."
Amy's phone beeped, getting her attention.
"I guess that's Prince Charming," Paula said with a knowing smile. Amy nodded in reply while opening his text.
My chauffeur is almost there. I'm so sorry I couldn't pick you up myself. I wish the circumstances were different. Can't wait to see you.
Amy wore a sad smile after reading the text, but it was okay. She consented to this, knowing fully well the challenges and consequences that come with it.
"What is it, honey?" Her mom asked in a calm voice, bringing her back to reality.
Paula became concerned when she noticed the sadness in her daughter's eyes. This is her first date, she should be radiating with nothing other than happiness.
"It's nothing, mom." Amy quietly replied, putting her phone in her purse.
"Is he canceling? Is he already bailing out on you?" Paula tried to sound calm, but there was a distinct edge to her voice. She wouldn't tolerate anyone hurting her daughter.
"Gosh! Mom, you think the worst of him already!"
"You can't blame me, sweetie. I'm worried about my daughter... So, why the sad face?"
"I'm not sad, mom... He's sending his chauffeur to come pick me up because he has a last-minute appointment to attend to."
Amy had to come up with an excuse for Bryan before her mom pressed her into telling the truth. As a lawyer, her mom has a persuasive way of getting the truth out of someone.
"And will he still make it in time for the date?" Paula skeptically asked, not buying this mystery guy's excuse.
"Yes, mom. He promised to be there on time."
"Look honey, I'm just worr-"
"Mom, please I'm not a kid anymore. Although this is my first, I know what it entails to be in a relationship."
"If you say so, honey. But that doesn't mean you won't be back by eleven."
"Mom!" Amy whined. Just at that moment, they heard the doorbell.
"I'll get the door while you take your time in coming downstairs, okay?" Paula said and headed downstairs to answer the door.
Amy looked at herself in the mirror one last time before leaving the bedroom. As she got to the foot of the stairs, she saw her mom and Bryan's chauffeur both waiting for her by the door. She sent a smile her mom's way, which Paula returned.
"Come here, baby. Give me a hug."
Amy walked towards her mom and hugged her tightly.
"Let's both pray Carl doesn't wake up in the middle of your date." Her mom said into the hug, causing Amy to laugh.
"I love you, mom." She then said after the hug.
"I love you too, sweetie."
Amy waved her mom goodbye after that and walked to the black limousine parked outside her mom's house. The chauffeur held the car door open for her and she climbed into the car. She took a deep breath once she was inside the car. She had dreamt of this day for years now and it was finally becoming a reality.

After a thirty-minute drive, the limo stopped in front of a fancy restaurant. The chauffeur got out of the car and opened the door for Amy. She said a quiet 'Thank you' as she climbed out of the car.
"Welcome to Le Papillon, Miss Norman. We've been expecting you. This way please." A young male waiter greeted Amy with a polite smile. She returned the smile and quietly followed the waiter into the restaurant.
When they got into the restaurant, the entire place was empty, there was no one there except a figure in a suit backing her while making a phone call. She could recognize that back anywhere in the world. It was Bryan.
It seems he heard their approaching footsteps because he suddenly turned around and sent a quick smile her way, causing a warm blush to rise to her cheeks.
Bryan ended the call when he saw Amy because her presence got him distracted as she looked gorgeous in her black one-shoulder midi dress with a thigh slit.

Her wavy curls looked extra sleek, making it tempting for him to run his fingers through. He dismissed the waiter before closing the distance between himself and Amy.
"Hi," He said when they were only inches apart.
"Hi," Amy replied with a shy smile.
"You look beautiful." Bryan complimented her, as his fingers caressed her cheek.
"Thanks... You don't look bad yourself." Amy replied, enjoying his touch.
She wouldn't deny that he looked handsome in the navy blue suit he was wearing.
'Always so formal' she thought to herself, as she gazed into his blue orbs that were staring at her lips.
Bryan slowly leaned in and connected their lips in a loving kiss. He wanted to do that from the moment he turned around and saw her. Her lips were soft and silken against his own.
"I'm sorry I didn't pick you up myself." He whispered against her lips.
"It's okay. I'm here with you, that's all that matters." Amy whispered back, kissing him again.
Warmth consumed Amy's entire body. She had waited all day to be in his arms, so she was going to make the most of it.
