Amy kept staring at her phone, waiting for his call. She has been doing that for over a week now. Since Bryan left for Italy, Amy has spoken to him only once. He had called to check on her and to let her know that he'd be really busy, so he wouldn't be answering any calls. Although she was sad to hear that, she tried to be understanding. He had promised to call when he came back from his business trip, but it's been almost a week since he got back and she is yet to hear a word from him.

Amy is beginning to lose her patience. She's trying really hard not to be a clingy girlfriend and just wait for his call, but she can't help but feel worried. This is the first time Bryan has broken a promise and it doesn't sit well with her.

'Should she give him a call or should she wait a few more days for his call?' she thought to herself, already staring at Bryan's name on her contact list. The thought of not knowing why Bryan hadn't called was getting her frustrated.

Mandy's name suddenly popped up on Amy's screen, making her less anxious. At this point, she needs someone to pour out her worries to, and who better to help her out in this situation than Mandy? She answered the call and greeted her best friend, whose presence she was beginning to miss so dearly.

"What's wrong, Amy? You don't sound so good" Mandy asked in concern when she noticed that her best friend didn't sound like her usual self.

"I think something's wrong with Bryan" Amy replied, going straight to the point.

"How do you mean? Did something happen?"

"I don't know. He said he was busy and promised to call when he returned, but I still haven't heard a word from him... I'm worried, Mandy"

Amy was already pacing in her bedroom. Her emotions had been bottled up because she didn't want her dad to suspect a thing, but she could freely express them now she was alone in her bedroom, speaking to her best friend who knows everything.

"Maybe, he's still busy," Mandy said in reply.

"I want to believe that, but you don't understand. Bryan would've at least called to tell me that himself, but he hasn't... This is so unlike him" Amy worriedly explained.

"Have you tried calling him?"

"I'm dying to, but I don't wanna seem too clingy"

"You're not being clingy, Amy. He's your man and you're just worried about him"

"So, what do I do?"

"I think you should give him a call-" Mandy was cut off mid-sentence by her best friend.

"Or better still, I go to his office"

"Amy, I'm not so sure about that," Mandy said with a hesitant voice.

"I need to see him, Mandy. I miss him so much"

"What if he gets mad?"

"I don't think he will. I've been there a couple of times"

"Okay, I won't argue with you. Just call me when you get back"

"I will. I'll go get ready. Wish me luck"

"Good luck... I'll hang up so you can shower cos I'm pretty sure you haven't done that"

"You're damn right" Amy laughed and hung up. She went into her closet and picked out a floral wrap maxi dress before going into the bathroom to shower.

"Good day, Miss. How may I help you?" Bryan's secretary greeted me with a polite smile. After her first encounter with Amy, she has learned to be more polite with the young visitor.

Amy mentally rolled her eyes at the secretary. Why does she ask that every time, when it's obvious that she's here to see Bryan? She knows this secretary doesn't like her one bit, so she should just quit trying to act nice.

"Is Mr Roderick in his office?" Amy replied in her most professional voice.

She hated coming to Bryan's office because it was the one place she had to be extra formal and careful of her actions, although she loved their steamy make-out sessions in his office during lunch hours.

"Yes, Miss. Let me give-"

"Never mind" Amy didn't want to miss this opportunity to see Bryan, so she opened the door to his office, not giving his secretary the chance to make any call this time.

"Miss, please you can't go in like that-" Bryan's secretary wasted no time in following Amy into her boss's office. She didn't want to get rebuked for not doing her job properly.

Bryan was finding it difficult to concentrate on the detailed plan of his company's new branch to be established in the Netherlands sent by his engineer for review because his thoughts were occupied with Amy. Ever since he had that conversation with Paula, he hasn't had a proper sleep. He's been thinking of ways to end his relationship with Amy without upsetting her or hurting her deeply, but that is beyond possible. It's not like he's less affected by it. He is in fact distraught by the whole idea of breaking up with Amy. She has captured his heart the way no woman has or ever will. Breaking up with Amy is going to create a void inside him that can never be filled by anyone or anything.

Bryan hasn't found the courage to end the relationship, that's why he has been avoiding Amy. He was supposed to meet with her when he got back from Italy, but he chose not to because he didn't want to seem odd. Amy wasn't making the situation any better. It's so unlike her to not call him even once since he returned from his business trip. It reminded him of her sudden change in behavior when it involved Kyle.

Could it be that Paula was right? Is Amy suddenly having doubts after spending some time with that friend of hers?

Bryan's office door suddenly jerks open, interrupting his thoughts. Amy walked in, followed by his secretary, who was rushing to stop her from entering, but it was already too late. Amy looked breathtaking as always. Her captivating brown eyes were staring directly at his plain blue ones. There was a bit of worry and anger in her eyes and he could tell she was struggling not to say anything. He wouldn't deny that he felt a rush of excitement on seeing her, but it vanished as soon as he remembered everything that happened in the last two weeks.

"I'm sorry, Sir. I tried to stop her" his secretary quickly defended herself before she gets criticized by her boss.

"It's okay, Gina. You can go now" he told her. He could see the relief in the secretary's eyes and he wondered how many times he'd make it clear to her that Amy was allowed to see him anytime.

Bryan stopped his secretary just as she was about to close the door.

"I need you to leave your desk for thirty minutes"

"Okay sir"

Bryan's office was soundproof, but he still wanted to take precautions. This conversation wasn't going to turn out well, he could already tell.
