Austin

I was in the dining room finishing up breakfast. Mom was doing the dishes and Dad was out in the barn finishing up his work. Mom doesn't work in the family except help the animals in the barn sometimes.

Dad works all the time. He bundles hay and sells them to other farmers. I work at a restaurant near by. It's a cheap little restaurant, but I don't mind it because we need the money anyway.

"Okay y'all! Let's get our bags and let's get on the road!" Dad yelled as he barged into the house, putting his cigarette in the ashtray. I took one last bite of my eggs and then got up and threw the rest of the leftovers in the trash. I walked over to the sink and put the plate in the sink. "Austin, are you packed?" Dad asked.

"Yessir." I replied.

"Okay, go up and get your bags and help Mama up there too, you understand?" Dad asked.

"Understood." I left the kitchen and started to hop up the stairs. Once I got to the top of the stairs. I walked into Mom and Dad's room and saw Mom trying to get her bags. "Hey Mom, I got it." I called out as I jogged up to her. I grabbed the bags from her hands. I looked down to try to position the bags in my hands.

"Oh, Austin, sweetie, I got it." Mom said sweetly. I looked up at her, still trying to position the bags.

"I got it, you go help Dad, okay?" I asked. She nodded and started to walk out. I finally got the bags where they were to my liking, then I stood up straight, and started to walk downstairs. "Hey Dad! Where do you want the bags?" I called out.

"By the front door." Dad called back from a different room. I nodded and got down the stairs. I head to the door. Once I got there, I put the bags down and went back up to get my bags.
