-Peter POV again, 1st person-

I stared at the drop, watching the cars moving quickly on the ground. My mask was in my hand, which was balled into a tight fist. I was crouching on a narrow bar, on the edge of a skyscraper. If I didn't have the ability to stick to surfaces, even the slightest wind would've sent me tumbling through the sky. Instead, I swayed gently with the breeze, breathing deeply. I heard nothing but the roaring of the wind in my ears, and the faint sounds of the cars below. The setting sun made the light easier on my eyes, so I didn't need the goggles or my sunglasses. I had in my earbuds, playing music as I watched the sun set. The suit was a bit small, since I'd grown out of it a while ago. I clutched two small vials in my hand, before slipping them into the shooters on my wrists. I tapped them together, watching as they collapsed into simple bracelets. I sighed, standing.

"Please do not swing away." Someone said behind me. I whirled around, almost losing my balance. Loki was standing behind me, a nervous look on his face.

"What do you want?" I asked bitterly, knowing he'd hear me.

"Well..." He looked away, then back to me. "I guess I wanted to make sure you were ok."

I laughed humorlessly, "Do I look ok?" He gave me a serious look, and everything came tumbling out. "I'm crazy. I'm worthless, nothing more than a toy to be used until a new one comes along. Flash was right, I deserved it all. Thinking I was helping people when I was really just bothering them. Everyone I love dies, all because of me. May died because she wouldn't go to the hospital, she was worried about me being safe. My parents died because I wasn't there when they needed me. Uncle Ben died because nobody warned him. And now everyone I love is going to die. I'm cursed, and everyone hates me for it." By the time my rant was done, tears were flowing from my eyes. I was sobbing, pacing on the thin bar over a thousand foot drop. I collapsed, my feet on the bar and my forehead leaning on my knees. "Everyone hates me." I muttered, letting out a broken sob. Loki sat down beside me, a hand hovering awkwardly over my back.

"Oh, fuck it all," Loki muttered, pulling me into a hug. I clung to his shirt, sobs wracking my body as Loki whispered to me.

"I used to think the same thing, y'know. That everyone liked Thor better and I was just a waste of space that wasn't even meant to exist. Then Odin took my children hostage for a crime I didn't commit, and I broke. I became a villain, hell-bent on getting revenge. I thought the world hated me, all because someone whispered in my ear that everyone hated me."

I sniffed, "Who?"

"Funny story actually. It was a squirrel named Ratatoskr. He passes insults between the serpent at the bottom of Yggdrasil and the eagle at the top, until they hate each other enough to murder each other. I listened to his screech one time, and it was like every single one of my insecurities was magnified by a thousand. So I began to hate everything about Thor, working as hard as I could to be his opposite. Then I realized how much he loved Midgard, when he didn't seem to care about me." Loki blinked, as if trying to keep back tears of his own. "When he hunted me down to return me to Asgard, that was the most attention he'd paid me for ages. But it didn't last long, so I wanted more. I suggested to Odin that he keep watch over me in Midgard, because I could see why he liked it. It is truly a wonderful place, with many wonderful people. But no place is perfect, not even Asgard. Flash is just one of the demons living among angels, you must not focus on him."

"What made you good?" I asked, sitting up.

"Well, I was never really bad. I just wanted someone to notice me, I suppose." He smiled, "And I found a certain spider-themed friend who did just that." A ghost of a smile appeared on my face, as I realized maybe I wasn't as worthless as I thought.

"I helped you?" I asked hopefully.

"No, it was Natasha." He rolled his eyes, making me actually laugh. The sound rang through the air, bringing a relaxed smile to his face.

"You're a natural at sarcasm." I giggled, leaning my head on his shoulder.

"MJ taught me." He shrugged.

"When did that happen?"

"Did you never notice how both of us would just randomly disappear and nobody would question it?" He raised an eyebrow. Now that I thought about it, that did happen a lot.

"I guess that makes sense. Thanks for being a good snek." I grinned.

"I am the greatest snek." He smiled contentedly. I smiled.

"Thanks for cheering me up." I looked into his eyes, seeing the sincerity there as he spoke.

"You deserve all nine worlds, kid. I never wanna see you sad."

"Awww." I grinned.

"Not my fault you look like a kicked puppy!" He laughed, swinging his legs back and forth over the drop.

"I thought you were a cat person!"

"I am!" We both laughed, not noticing the soft whirring sound approaching us quickly. A red blur passed us, before backtracking quickly.

"Peter!" Harley screamed, surprising me.

"Isn't that one of Tony's old suits?"

"Yeah, I'm not really here because heights, but I'm controlling the bot." He explained, as the helmet popped open to reveal it was empty.

"Why does the helmet open if there's nothing inside?" I wondered.

"THAT'S WHAT I SAID!" He shouted, flying closer. I winced at the sound, wishing they'd pay more attention to the fact that my ears were sensitive to literally any noises that sounded normal to them. Loki squeezed my shoulder, before pulling me up.

"C'mon, let's get you home." He smiled kindly, making sure his tone was soft and his voice was quiet.

"I'm not sure I know where home is anymore." I whispered, shifting nervously.

He only smiled, "Then we'll be there to help you find it."
