Mina knew that once she did the deed, she'd never be able to return again. She would have to leave behind the place she might have considered her home in the past, but that was long ago. And all she could think of when she walked its halls, was how suffocating it was. How the walls seemed to close in on her, once beautiful paintings of beautiful people that Mina loved to stare at for a few seconds before continuing on now deadpanned at her, eyes that were once filled with life, were blank. Like the life was sucked right from their painted faces, perhaps it was her, or maybe it was a sign from the fates. Telling her to abandon this miserable life she lived in, the harrowing reality she found herself trapped in. To run away, slit her husband's throat the next time she found him asleep beside her, ignoring Mina every time he saw her, only staying with her for her body and her wealth.

Mina was born lucky, into a well-off family that owned a busting business, staying in her family home as her parents grew old and retired, marrying her off to the heir of another. Mina was naive back then, believing that they would build their relationship, become close, maybe fall.

It never happened, from the first time she met her fiance, to their honeymoon, and now. He never once showed any kindness to her, he was stone cold, a sharp piece of obsidian that wanted only money and power, and if Mina was the next step to increasing that, then it didn't matter what happened after, as long as she remained in his grasps, he would keep her inheritance.

It had been 5 years since then. Five grueling years, of confinement, of usage, of tolerance. Mina couldn't take much anymore, she'd been patient, perhaps too hopeful that somehow he'd suddenly change and love her, letting her be something more than a housewife. She didn't do anything, she couldn't do anything, not when there was everybody doing it for her. 3 Chefs for cooking, 5 maids for cleaning, a butler, a few more yards-keepers, and of course, the personal bed-slave, the only thing she ever did.

Mina was fed up, she'd been planning an escape for a while, but not too long ago her intentions darkened, bloodied by the sweet sound of revenge, to finally put her repulsive partner in his place, also popularly known as...hell

Now her mind was made, she waited until dark, when he turned into sleep, after some time of yelling at Mina about how useless she was and then stuffing himself down her throat. Here was her moment, she'd slipped out of bed, faking going to the restroom, or a late-night read. Pulling a sheathed dagger from its hiding place, light metal shining in the dark as she walked back over to where he slumbered, steps silent as a hunter stalking its prey.

She stopped, taking a breath and raising the weapon, "I hope you have fun in hell, darling." and she smiled, slashing across his windpipe, the metallic smell of blood filling the stale air as it sunk into the satin sheets and into the bed. Mina watched as he bled to death, wiping the blood off her dagger on the pillow, deciding she'd lingered too long and turned away, quickly changing into the clothes she'd prepared earlier, grabbing a bag, and sneaking onto the balcony.

Clambering down on the terrace she moved across the garden, slinking through well-kept bushes and plants like a fox, she knew the estate like the back of her hand and easily escaped.

But that wouldn't be the most difficult part of her journey, wandering aimlessly through town after town until she reached the sea. She'd known that once she reached the docks and boarded a ferry to new land, she'd truly be free.

Of course, luck was never on her side, the pirates came, and the ship sank, leaving her stranded on the thin strip of beach, things they didn't want discarded across the light sand, smooth waves slowly licking towards the priceless treasures as the tide rose, and the oceans hungry current would sweep them away. So that only the mermaids and naiads could peer upon what was once someone's.
