It was a cool night, a night where the clouds lightly misted over the bright moon. Small shimmers of distant stars shone behind them where the clouds thinned and broke apart against the dark sky.
Mina couldn't sleep, no matter how hard she tried the tears kept flowing. She was hurt, her heart and soul torn up and left to rot. Those people, no matter how hard she tried to forget about it, she couldn't. It was still fresh in her mind, what happened. Though several days had passed, it felt like months had.
No one said anything, she never said anything. She'd hold the feelings in, put up a mask. No one knew, no one had asked if anything was wrong. Well, except for one.
She was terrified, weary, and alone. She didn't know how long she could keep this up, this facade, and it was showing more and more as each day and night passed. It was getting worse, each day a new threat would arrive and each day she'd be left to continue. Anxious and afraid that it might happen again, that horrible day.
Even after all her energy spent on fooling the members, acting as if nothing was wrong. She still noticed, she still asked if she was doing alright if something was wrong.
"I'm fine, I'm okay, everything's okay." She whispered to herself, her hands hugging her knees as she stared off into the distance from the small balcony. A small breeze buffeting her hair, drying the still flowing tears.
She was even more scared at the fact that she was suspicious of her well-being, the fact that she might get herself involved, get herself hurt. Just to help her, a no-good idiot that fell into someone's twisted trap and can't even get herself out.
Her breath hitched as another sobbing spasm came onto her, soft cries escaping her lips as she was unable to hold them back.
"Unnie? Omo! You're crying! Are you okay?" The door slid open and she was enveloped into warm arms, the worried face of Kim Dahyun entering her clouded view. Her eyes widened, and she immediately tried to compose herself, attempting to control her hitching breaths, her shaking hands and unsteady legs.
"I-I'm fine Dahyun, It was just a bit windy so my eyes started watering." She spoke, her voice quivering as she tried to get out of Dahyun's tightly wrapped arms, afraid that if she stayed near her warm exterior or her soft features and worrying eyes then she'd break.
Dahyun frowned, her brows twitched as she reached for her once more only to have her hand swat away. "You're not though, you were crying yesterday too. You can tell me whats wrong, i wont tell anyone else." She gently took her cheek in a hand, her thumb moving to rub a tear off.
She froze, her body quivering as she looked into Dahyun's soft eyes, her own wide as she stared. She was torn, one side of her wanting to fall into her warm hold and stay there forever, and the other to not tell her at all.
She shouldn't tell her, she can't.
But she was too weak to care about the consequences, all she wanted was to be cared for, loved, and Dahyun was right here, patiently waiting for her.
Mina collapsed into her, tightly holding onto the soft fabric of her pajamas, inhaling her comforting scent.
The tears continued, she didn't know if they were happiness or sadness anymore. But she didn't mind, all she felt now was Dahyun's arms wound around her, one gently rubbing her back, the other in her hair, and soft kisses on her head, each little gesture making her melt into Dahyun. Her hands making small kneading movements into her smooth pale skin. Mina suddenly became drowsy, exhausted from the constant struggle.
"Whatever's been going on with you for the past days, we'll figure it out together. I'm here now, you don't have to be alone anymore." Dahyun lightly spoke, and they sat there like that on the cool surface of the balcony, the breeze occasionally coming by to stir up their hair, and the moonlight shimmering down upon them.
"S-Stay with me, Dahyunie. Never leave my side, p-promise me." She spoke, her voice wavering as she did so. Mina looked up, gazing back into Dahyun's eyes, and she tenderly smiled, and cupped her cheeks, her forehead resting against Mina's.
"I promise, I'll always be with you Mina. And I promise I'll protect you, I won't ever let you be hurt like this again." Dahyun uttered, and she smiled, her head falling back down to rest on her chest, a small yawn escaping her lips.
"Tired? Come on, let's head back inside and rest. You can sleep with me." Dahyun said as she moved, looking at her for a moment and she nodded.
Her eyes widened as she was picked up bridal style, Being held in Dahyun's arms felt so good, and safe. She couldn't get enough of it, but for now, she thought she might just fall asleep right here.
