I felt as though we'd only gotten a handful of days with peace and our newfound happiness that was Maggie's pregnancy before all hell had broken loose once more.

It was Rick, his newly reunited friend, Morgan, and Ron that had stumbled up the herd that threatened the community. Stumbled upon- quite literally. And without a second to waste, Rick put a plan into action.

"Sounds like a lot," Nicholas pants out, looking at the walkers that banged on the glass from inside the building in front of us.

"It looks like a lot," Kate sneers at him.

When I'd told Glenn I was not leaving his side, I meant it. I didn't expect Kate to silently agree and also accompany us in our group. And of course since she was here, Paul followed behind. That's how we'd found the four of us, Nicholas, and the returning Alexandria runner- Heath, in our own group.

"We need it quiet," Glenn observes, looking around the building walls and forming a layout in his mind.

"So, what's the plan?" Heath asks.

"Take 'em out a few at a time," Glenn explains, leading us to the door on the side of the building.

"Nicholas you're at the door," Glenn orders, "You let one or two out, then you close it. You keep doing that. That's the trick. That's how we control it."

"Because he's the most trustworthy with doors," Kate scoffs, glaring at Nicholas but still getting her knife out.

"I hate him, too. Now's not the time," I whisper to her as Glenn continues to explain the plan.

"He doesn't deserve for me to hold my thoughts, no matter the time," Kate whispers back.

I couldn't be too mad, I hated the guy as well after all.

As it comes time to put Glenn's plan into action, we're graced with the sight of a shutter blocking the door. Thus, putting the plan into the ground and effectively stomping on it.

"Better than trusting him with the door," Kate shrugs.

--

"This is a bad idea," Heath warns.

"This is the only idea," Glenn rephrases.

"I think there's something like a dozen in there," Nicholas says shakily.

"We stay back, we get on opposite ends, we draw them to each of us," Glenn leads, "Nicholas, you get back and you stay back. Things go south, you tell Rick and you draw them away."

When Nicholas doesn't budge, Glenn shoves him back by the chest, "Move back."

The rest of us get ready and Glenn returns, grabbing me by the arm to pull him, Kate, and I into a huddle.

"Things get bad, you two follow him. Don't risk anything for him, just get back home," he whispers.

"And leave you?" I ask.

"Yes," he confirms, walking away before either of us could argue.

"Ready?" he asks.

"No, but since you're doing this anyway," Heath says.

Glenn fires the shot to break the windows and immediately, walkers are pouring out. The fight doesn't last long, though there were a couple close calls as there were more than anticipated. Nicholas jumped in at one point, saving Kate when she was reloading her gun. So, when the last one was left, Glenn allows Nicholas to take care of it.

Seeing the lot clear, Glenn motions for us all, "Let's go."

--

We're reunited with Rick and the others soon after taking care of the distraction.
