Kate POV
I was awake before the other two. Rick was asleep on the couch as Michonne was in the upstairs bedroom, meanwhile I was sitting at the kitchen table. Granted, I didn't get much sleep anyway.
Maggie and I were separated when I caught sight of Beth. She didn't hear me calling to her when I ran and kept going. Rick found me when I was cornered by a small herd. Michonne just found us this morning.
We were staying in a house in a small neighborhood. Rick was too weak to move at the moment. He'd been in a fight with the Governor and almost lost. After we found the bloodied car seat that once held Judith and Carl's gun, he was too distraught to keep moving.
"Already up?" Michonne whispers whispers.
She was in the doorway, a throw blanket over her shoulders. Her eyes carried dark circles, her cheeks were still crusty from her tears drying. I'm surprised she didn't try to hide it from me like she usually would.
"Been up awhile," I shrug. She sniffles and sits down. I want to ask if she's okay, but I know she's not.
"Are you okay?" She asks as if reading my mind.
"Yeah," I lie.
She knows it too but, doesn't push any further. None of us were okay. We lost everyone and our home.
"You should go back to sleep. It's still early," I tell her, she sighs and shakes her head.
"I can't," She whispers, hanging her head down.
I purse my lips, I should've known that. She was right beside Hershel.
It was her weapon that did the damage. I wondered how she felt now still carrying it.
"I'm worried about him," Michonne sighs, throwing a glance backwards where Rick is.
"Yeah, mentally there's no way everything's okay up there," I shake my head.
"Judith and Carl were his life. His kids were his world. It's hard, but he'll get by," she says, still watching him.
She's so sincere about his bounce back that it seemed almost personal to her.

Carl POV
Mika whimpered softly in her sleep before rolling over and clinging to Carol's leg. Carol smiles fondly and I roll my eyes.
Back at the prison, Daryl and I stayed side by side throughout the fight until the tank rolled in through the fence. We were immediately separated and for awhile I was on my own. When I heard Judith cry, I bolted to the sound faster than I'd ever gone in my life. I ran into Lizzie and Mika who eventually led me to Tyreese whom they'd saved earlier. Once out of the prison, Tyreese and I were helping another group that didn't make it. Carol had found the three girls where we'd left them to stay safe.
There were multiple times I tried to get away to find my dad, Michonne, Jade, Daryl, or anyone. I would strap Judith to my chest and begin to walk off but, wherever I went, Lizzie and Mika were right behind me. Knowing I couldn't put them in danger, I stayed. Truthfully, it was probably for the best. Even though I had enough confidence in myself that I could make it alone, I'd still have Judith to watch over.
Walkers I could handle, crying baby sister along with walkers in the mix.. Maybe not.
I hadn't spoken a word since being left with them. Carol, Lizzie, and Mika acted like a little family and it was beginning to annoy me. My only family with me couldn't even talk.
"I think we should start to make our way out of the woods. Find a town and look for some supplies," Carol says, directed to me as I was the only one besides her that was awake.
