Toni was looking at the sleeping baby through the window to the NICU. Her eyes took in how tiny he was. She read his name card. Cheryl had given him her last name and that made her mad.
"Would you like to hold him?" A nurse asks her, seeing the way she was watching the baby.
Toni shook her head. "He's not mine."
Nodding her head, the nurse frowns slightly. "Strange he has your complexion and your nose, but Cheryl's hair and eyes."
"He's not mine." Toni repeated.
"If you say so." The nurse says before heading back inside.
Jughead walks up beside Toni and looks toward the baby. "Why won't you admit he's yours? Or that you want so badly to hold him." he asks her calmly.
"I don't want him. I told her that when she told me about him." Toni said. "I'm a freak. I shouldn't be able to procreate."
"Cut the crap Toni. I can't count how many times you've told Sweetpea, Fangs, and I that you wanted to be a mom. Now you are." Jughead responds, remaining calm.
Toni didn't say anything, a tear rolled down her cheek and she wiped it away quickly.
"Now, go in there and hold your son. He's absolutely perfect." Jughead tells her, squeezing her shoulder before walking away.
Toni turned away from the window.
