CHAPTER 20

HALLWAY – JUNGKOOK POV

I met Linda in the hallway when I was headed to the meeting hall.

Linda: 'Alpha. We found Soomin.'

'Great! Have her brought here so we can get the facts from her.'

Linda looked down and hesitated. 'That won't be easy, Alpha. It was rumored that she was going around the village telling everyone that she was the real Luna. People ostracized her, thinking that she was a crazy woman and she seems to have met her demise somewhere along the line. We found her body in the sewers and it was quite decomposed.'

I stepped back. The knowledge hit me like a hammer. Sure she was responsible for administering the drug to me, but it was Jung Joon's plan. She had always been arrogant, which is probably what led to her downfall but still...it was not something I wished on anyone.

'Did Jung Joon just abandon her when we expelled them?'

Linda: 'It sounds like it.'

I shook my head. 'He is my brother but I didn't think he would be that cruel. He basically used her for her greed then just threw her away.'

Linda nodded. 'Her body was in bad shape but it looked like her death was not pleasant.'

I sighed. Well, we did threaten to kill her if she didn't leave so someone did our job for us.

'What of Jung Joon? Any news of his where abouts?'

Linda: 'We tracked him to the borders. It looks like once he heard word of your capture of his hit men he left immediately.'

'How would he hear of it? The fact that they were able to get to our rooms is also a question. There must be someone of question within the walls of the palace. A spy? Or someone that is looking to see my downfall?'

Linda: 'That is what I was thinking, Alpha.'

'Ok. I suspect you are already on that and doing it solo?'

Linda nodded. I patted her shoulder. It was great to have such a wonderful and trustworthy beta. She was worthy of the title she held.

'Thank you.'

Linda bowed and padded back down the hallway.

GARDEN – JIMIN POV

After training I made my way to the gardens. I could feel that Jungkook was in the west wing in the meeting hall so I would wait for him where I felt safe. The gardens were calming and comforting.

I approached the eastern fountain and rubbed my hands through the soft waters. These came from the natural spring that came from the wilds to the east and had a different scent from the other fountains.

I splashed it up my forearms then shook my hands out, sending mists up into the air, collecting the colors of the rainbow in the lights.

Skye was nearby. I had let him out to wander close by and he alerted me to a presence on the benches. Claire...

She must be waiting for Jiwoon. I sighed. It will be hard on her to have a rogue for a mate. She will have to work hard to see him or convince him to not reject her.

I can't live without my mate, so I imagine he will come around but it is still hard to watch her pine for him. I liked Claire a lot. Her, Faith and Hwan I felt were my best friends and I wanted to someday see all of them get everything they want and be happy.

I looked up, feeling the sun warm my face wishing that the warmth was Jungkook's kisses. I really wanted to be with him. I had felt bad this morning and really had appreciated feeling his strength.
