JUNGKOOK POV
Grandfather: 'It was a test.'
'A test!?! You have got to be kidding me!'
Grandfather: 'Watch your tone, boy. You might be some mighty powerful being in your realm but here you are nothing other than my plaything.'
I could feel Minjun bristling at the statement and Jimin's fingers gripped my sides until they made me wince. He was angry at this person too although he was still suffering the effects from the binding and was leaning heavily on me for the support. Skye was small and hidden.
'What kind of test?'
Grandfather: 'I was testing my now fully grown grandsons' strengths and loyalties. We wanted to see if Jiwoon was willing to bring us his brother if asked.'
Beside me Claire gasped. 'He didn't! I don't believe it.'
The man shook his head and frowned.
Grandfather: 'You are right. That pathetic half breed was only able to separate Jimin from you. We still had to send a soldier to capture him.'
'What?'
Grandfather: 'For Jimin, we paid a few expendables and asked them to grab you. I wanted to see how dedicated Jimin was to you and how he would react. He is a very strong child.'
I looked at the Fae in disbelief. A simple test? We killed pack members, we started questioning loyalties within the ranks all for a test? I was feeling outraged.
Grandfather: 'I must say, we did not expect that after capturing Jimin, you would have wonderous abilities to react so quickly. It has been but a blink in time for you to come rescue him like some shining knight.'
Jimin looked at the man with the same expression I was sure reflected my feelings.
Jimin: 'A test?...a test!?!'
Grandfather: 'Yes.'
Jimin: 'You are insane! Why would you mess with our lives like this?!'
His grandfather glanced at Jimin like he couldn't understand Jimin's anger then looked at me to continue our conversation.
Grandfather: 'Tell me, boy. How did you know he was taken so fast?'
I rubbed Jimin's back, trying to soothe his anger. He was still very weak and he was shaking, trying to stay standing. I pulled his arm across my shoulder to support more weight, much to his dismay. I know he didn't want to look weak, but I soon felt him relax, happy for the support.
'I saw a vision.'
Jimin and Grandfather in unison: 'A vision?!'
'Ummm...yes. I saw it in a reflection. Jimin being hurt...so I sent my team to protect him and warned him of impending danger. Literally minutes later he disappeared from our mate bond. Which I suspect was when he was brought here.'
Grandfather: 'Amazing! How long have you had these visions?'
'That was the first.'
Grandfather: 'Really? And you read it so well and believed it?'
'Even if it was wrong, I would rather be safe than sorry when it comes to Jimin. He is everything.'
I felt his breathing speed up a little at that confession. I know he feels the same way and being pressed up against me affects us both all the time. The elder glanced between us as if sensing our connection.
Grandfather: 'I often wondered about the wolf connection. My daughter, Jimin's mother, chose to come back to us. She did have a mate for a short while but he didn't survive. She was then hunted miraculously by the pack, for her abilities and what they could give future generations.
