Aimi found her heart in her throat when her happy gaze met Bakugo's earlier. She could notice him failing to suppress a smile which in turn made her smile wider. But when Bakugo's hands started to come towards her, she panicked internally. The sight of skin scared her. She felt like bolting. Her heart wanted her to stay put and let herself feel the warmth of another person but her mind was frozen in fear. What if this person turned out to be her soulmate? She had no intention of meeting them right now. She had to get strong enough to control her power and strong enough to not rely on them in any way or else she would end up like the only person who had held a fate worse than hers. After all, she knew that everything had a price. What hadn't she seen soulmates give for each other. Horrific flashbacks were coming to her and yet she could only hold still as if put in a trance by the crimson-eyed male in front of her.
Thankfully, her phone began to ring and a proud "Dadzawa" displayed himself on the screen and she excused herself to pick up the call.
"Where are you? It's almost dinner time and then we have to leave. You didn't forget about our plans, did you?" Aizawa was using his strict teacher voice as he nudged Aimi a small reminder that they had to go kick some villain butt that night.
"I'm a nearby, Dad. I'll be home in 20 minutes, I remember, I just lost track of time. Be there soon!" Aimi disconnected the call and bid Bakugo a good night with a small lingering twinge of sadness at leaving her new friend and relief at getting out of any form of accidental skin contact. But even she knew that she didn't have long before she'd have to face reality. She couldn't avoid combat classes or friendly skinship forever. With that she headed home, prepared for what was sure to be a long grueling night, determined to get ahold of herself.
And that's how she found herself at UA without an ounce of sleep the next morning. Unfazed by the incessant chatter about the drug lord taken down by a group of pro heroes last night, she undetectably slunk into the classroom. Her seat was changed to behind Izuku Midoriya (Mineta's old seat) the previous day when the class pervert had started creeping the girls out and his desk and chair was shifted to the front of the class, by the teacher's podium to keep him out of trouble (to keep him from being killed by the girls).
Aimi took her seat and placed her head down, a nap felt appropriate just about now. But just as she closed her eyes a voice interrupted her, "Hi! I'm Midoriya Izuku! I saw how amazing you did in yesterday's assessment and was just wondering if you could tell me more about your quirk! It's very interesting!" His tone and curiosity was refreshing, almost innocent and yearning.
Pulling her head up she surveyed the innocent freckled face and green hair, broccoli boy. Ah yes, Aimi smiled with dead eyes, still exhausted. Although she couldn't give him the information he sought, she could give him a conversation that would hopefully turn him away from the subject, for his own good, "Why don't you tell me about yours first? You can't seem to control your power which is strangely similar to All Might's." Aimi knew all about All for One and One For All but was surprised when All Might informed her that a classmate of hers was his successor yesterday during their mission. Aimi being Aimi connected the dots instantly, but the nervous wreck in front of her didn't know that she had been sworn to secrecy a long time ago and was trusted by his mentor, which made his reactions amusing.
Midoriya froze, maybe disturbing Aimi when she was alone was a bad idea. Laughing awkwardly and stuttering as he tried to brush it off, he noticed dark circles on the girl's face and looked away, "N-not really, it r-really isn't. O-oh look Iida is here, I heard h-he met his soulmate yesterday-y!"
Aimi noticed a tiny melancholy gleam in Midoriya's eyes but brushed it off as her gaze slid to the other side of the classroom where Iida was talking to Uraraka, both of them blushing madly. Aimi put two and two together and smiled a small smile and realised she wouldn't have to worry about at least two people being her soulmates since having more than one mark was rare. But she made a mental note to make sure to ask the girl later.
