Aimi held her breath as she watched her Father being sedated and she took a deep breath she placed her hands on top of his chest and breathed, She pushed in dark energy into his body, healing his bones and other injuries before taking it back in. Nightmares and his pain would plague her for days but she didn't care. "He'll have a scar but should be fine if he keeps the bandages on for a week so his muscles have time to deswell and stabilize," Aimi told the doctor before moving on.
With a heaviness in her chest, she repeated the process on thirteen and barely held in tears, "I did what I could but I don't know when she's gonna wake up. Thirteen has sustained too much damage for me to be sure" The hospital staff nodded at the poor girl who was no doubt already in agony.
Yet she still trudged on, walking with confident heavy strides. She walked as exactly who she was, a future queen. Slowly she walked over to the other hospital room to find Midoriya who was resting unconscious on the bed. Her face softened and she sighed, "Why're you so reckless?"
Unable to stop herself and overcome with the weight of the day she placed her hand on his forehead to push the hair out of his face. A faint glow came from his chest under his bandages and from Aimi's soul mark that was right above her heart. Aimi felt her chest explode with warm feelings and emotions setting her heart aflutter. Midoriya smiled in his sleep and Aimi pulled herself away.
She didn't realize when the sobbing started, but when it did, it didn't stop. She bit her lip in hopes of keeping quiet and pulled a pair of gloves on her hands from the cart in the hospital room. She held his hand in hers and repeated the healing process. She felt her own hands burn with his pain and it was amplified tenfold because her demon was itching for her soulmate.
Any doubts in her mind had been cleared, she would have to stay away from them...all of them, even if it killed her. But for now, holding her soulmate's hand, she sobbed, she sobbed and sobbed and sobbed. Overcome with grief, the grief of her childhood, the grief of the loss of her mother once more, the grief of knowing who her people were and having to stay away...just grief, immeasurable grief.
Midoriya felt the pain of his injuries subside and slowly started to rouse, feeling in his body was starting to return to him and he slowly regained his senses. He heard crying and panicked, His eyes shot open to meet Aimi's red ones, "Aimi?"
The girl stiffened at her name and quickly wiped her tears. "Aimi-san, what are you doing here? Are you okay? " He didn't stutter and was deeply concerned with why the girl in front of him was crying, he was now in full hero mode.
"I'm okay, Midoriya. I just was here to heal your injuries, I'm fine, I'm just fine"
The girl was still in her demon form and this concerned the emerald-haired boy, "Heal me? How"
Aimi found words tumbling out of her mouth, "I mean, I'm not supposed to but I couldn't not and um, I just happened to be here and you know I might not be in school for a while after helping dad and thirteen and you but I'll be okay I mean, I'm a demon, I'll be fine. I got all of the dark energy out of you by the way so nothing should feel off. My power might not be meant for helping but I'll be okay-"
"Aimi, slow down, I don't understand you." Midoriya blinked and waited for her to calm down. His brain slowly came back to functioning normally in that time and he remembered what he saw at the USJ. For a moment he felt panic and fear but it faded the second his eyes met with Aimi's. Her face was stained with tears and her hair was a mess. She wasn't coated in blood anymore but the smell of iron lingered in the air but it wasn't unpleasant because it molded with the sweet scent she usually smelled like, making it just a bit sharper.
When Aimi had composed herself she nodded and took a deep breath before explaining, "My power is powerful" Aimi started, "it thrives off of dark emotion and sin. So it isn't meant to heal. But I figured out a way how to use it like that and even though the drawbacks are severe I can manage them. In truth Midoriya, I'm not very powerful. Atleast without my soulmates. The drawbacks to my power are too severe for anyone sane to go through with it. "
Midoriya itched for his notebook, "Can you elaborate?"
Aimi shook her head, "I've probably said too much already and I know the entire class is probably going to be afraid of me now but I couldn't just leave you like this."
Midoriya was genuinely confused, but he reminded himself that he was the only one who knew of the girls' past, "I'm not afraid of you. How about we continue to talk once you um go back to normal"
"But I might drop..." she whispered
"What?" Midoriya was growing more confused by the second, just like the readers at this point.
"My demon is strong and powerful, I'm the weak one, Deku." The boy stiffened at the name and Aimi tilted her head, "I'm sorry, was that not a nickname"
Midoriya sighed, "Well, it's something Kacchan started calling me as an insult when we were young because it meant useless or something, and well it stuck."
Aimi made a confused face that made Midoriya's heart do flips, "But doesn't Deku seem like the Kanji for hardworking...I mean, not to make you feel invalid or anything but sometimes it's best to think of things in the best way. My mother called me the devil..well, the devil has wings and I'm gonna use them in a way that makes everyone feel safe someday..even if everyone is scared now."
"Well, you certainly saved the day today. You shouldn't worry about the class either. You're not weak Aimi, anyone with common sense can see that." Midoriya stated with the most confidence he could muster.
Aimi bitterly laughed and turned back to her human form. A wave of dizziness struck her because of the pain. She held her gloved hand out to Midoriya, "Squeeze my hand firmly with just your bare strength."
The boy confusedly complied, still being injured he couldn't put too much strain on himself but he thought it was a decent squeeze, not enough to hurt a hero-in-training and watched Aimi's poker face as she took back her hand and shook it for a second. she took off the glove and showed it to the green-headed boy. There was a bruise starting to form in the shape of his hand. The boy gasped.
Aimi sighed, "I'm weak, no matter how much I train unless I let some demonic energy reside in me I'm just a normal girl. Without my soulmates, I'll always remain human. There's more to my story that you know Midoriya, I know what Dad told you. I hope one day, I can tell you it all."
She pulled a black flame to her hand and the bruise vanished but the pain lingered. Aimi stood up and smiled at the boy who now sat in silence, "But you know what? For today, no matter what I've done, You've saved my day, Deku. I'll see you soon." With that, she walked out.
You've saved me today, even if you don't know it yet...Thank you Deku.
