THE NEXT DAY

I didn't even know what to think.

It was so sudden.

I was so mad at myself for not checking on him more.

I could've told him to check with the Doctors more.

Im the only person Lay had left.

My Dad is gone.

Someone opened the door suddenly.

"Lia, come eat something, you haven't eaten all morning." I heard Prince say, interrupting my thoughts.

"Im not hungry Prince."

I heard him come around the bed, squatting down next to where I was laying and looking me in the face.

"Baby, talk to me. You know i'm here right?"

"What is there to talk about?"

"How you're feeling, do you want to talk about it?"

"Im fine. Where's Lay?" I said, sitting up.

"She's getting packed, you know we going back today right?"

I nodded.

He then came into the bed and held me, making me immediately start to cry.

Damn you hugs.

I am not the type of person to express my emotions but, not being home while my father passed really took a toll on me.

I was just crying in Prince' arms, just letting it out.

It felt good to cry.

Lay then opened the room door, seeing what was happening, and walked towards the bed.

She got on the other side of me and held me, just as Prince was doing.

"Come on Lia, let's go, let's eat something bean." Lay said.

I was supposed to be strong for her, strong for everyone, but it's like everyone had to be strong for me.

"Imma pack your clothes mama." Prince whispered in my ear.

I slowly got up from the bed, following Layah out of the room and walking into the dining room of the yacht.

Blue was in there, eating a fruit cup, when she looked up at me.

She got up from her seat and saw my tears down my face, she immediately walked up to me and hugging me.

"Hey baby, I got you forever. Dad got us forever." She said in my ear.

Even though my father wasn't her biological father, she still considered him as a father figure, they basically grew up together.

"I miss him already." I cried.

"I know you do baby. You gotta be strong for him, and especially Lay, that's your concern right now."

She was right.

From now on, Lay was my responsibility.

Even thought she is almost 18, I have to still take care of her.

For the rest of my life.

We broke the hug and I sat down in the seat in front of me.

"What do you want to eat? Do you want to try the cake we got?" Imani asked.

"I guess."

She then cut a slice and put it on a small paper plate.

Lay then sat down next to me and put her head in my shoulder.

"We will be okay bean." She said.

Shit don't make me cry again.

I held her face as she still laid on my shoulder.

Imani then put the cake in front of me, with a fork, and some lemonade.

"It's vanilla girl." She chuckled.

Lay grabbed the fork and took a piece of the cake.

"That was mine Layah."

"Finders keepers." She joked.

She really knew how to brighten someone's mood up.

Imani and I chuckled.

Prince then came out of the room, walking Into the dining room and sitting on the other side of me.

"You got mad clothes just fir the weekend, I had to take a break."

"Where is everyone else?" I said, leaning my head on his chest.

"Im their rooms I'm guessing. We reach Tallahassee in like 2 hours." He explained.

"Im just ready to go home." Imani said.

I stayed silent.

I had a funeral to plan when I got home.

"Im gonna go finish packing." Lay got up from her chair.

Imani then sat in Layah's empty seat next to me.

She stared at me.

I saw her staring from my side and got up from Prince' chest.

"What?" I said.

"I just want you to know that i'm here okay?" She put her hand on my leg.

"I know."

"Papa got us Lia."

"I know."

I laid my head back on to Princes chest.

I hated talking about this.

Wish I could just escape from reality.

——

LATER THAT NIGHT.

We were all back from the yacht and back in my apartment.

Tri and Leo went home, and so did Imani.

It was just Prince, Layah and I, and Layah was in my room, while Prince and I were  on the couch.

I was laid out across the couch, with my head on Princes lap.

"I hope you know I ain't leaving." He looked down at me and said.

"Whatever."

We were watching 'On my Block' one of my favorite shows.

It's been a very gloomy day, and I wanted to end it off with something that made me happy.

I appreciated Prince for sticking by me, even though I didn't want anyone besides Lay, around me, he made me feel better.

I just wanted to avoid this funeral planning.

When we got home earlier, the hospital called me and discussed options on what we would do for my Father, after sending him to the morgue, we will be sending him to a funeral home, then go from there.

I was really living in a nightmare.

back and im better
