"I think..." As Kai started to speak, he noticed Tih move out of the corner of his eye.
Tih walks up to the screen and scrolls through the classes all the way to the bottom and clicks on the last option that only now appeared as the information had updated. Tih clicks on the last class and the words "parkour" pop onto the screen.
Sherlock and Lucien turn to see what Kai is look at. "Parkour?"
Kai subconsciously starts explaining," George Herbert formulated a physical training discipline called "the natural method" using climbing, running, swimming and man-made obstacle courses to recreate the natural environment. It became the basis for all French military training, and the first organized obstacle course training in the modern era. Inspired by his work, units of the French Special Forces in the 1950's further developed Hebert's work. Years later, Raymond Belle introduced the discipline to his son David and his friends, who then adapted Raymond's teachings to their "natural setting", giving birth to what we now know as "Parkour."" Kai starts reciting the history of parkour even though no one asked.
Sherlock cuts him off before the crowd comes out of their daze and realizes they jumped in front of them,"Parkour sounds like a good choice. It relies on endurance and agility which is what we need the most right now."
Kai shrugs," Parkour it is then." He signs up for Environmental Engineering 101 and Parkour. Sherlock inserts his card next. He selects Parkour, Accounting Basics, and Logistics 101. Lucien signs up for Computer Science and Parkour.
After Lucien pulls out his ID, they all turn to look at Tih. Seeing as they've all finished what they wanted to do, Tih turns around and starts walking to the exit. Kai frowns and pulls Tih back," Your not joining any classes? I don't doubt your athletic skills, but if you don't complete the basics of a class, you won't be able to get a job? How are you going to earn money."
Tih stares into Kai's eyes with a straight face. Although his face shows no discernible emotions, Kai is getting the feeling that Tih won't compromise. He stares into Tih's steady blue eye to see if he can change his mind, but only sees an unwavering, calm lake.
Acknowledging that he won't do it himself, Kai swipes Tih's ID card and inserts it into the board, before applying to the Parkour class. "You need to at least pass one class. I don't know about any of the others, but you can probably pass this class blindfolded."
Tih watches calmly at the side, not making any moves to stop him. To the child, it doesn't matter if he joins a class or not. He's never thought about joining and that's why he started to walk away without signing up to one. But if he joins the class, it also does not matter to him. He didn't put effort into caring about the idea, because it did not draw his attention. The child is the type to go with the flow.
This was especially true when he lived at the orphanage. Even when the other child complained about the disgusting food they had to eat, Tih would casually eat everything with a straight face. When the other children pulled him along and forced him to play their games, he would play, if they kicked him out, he would leave. When the child was bullied, he calmly accepted it. In fact, the child did not understand the concept of "bullying". When he calmly accepted his clothes drenched in water, stolen belongings, and eventual name-calling, the other children got bored and ignored him. The child was told not to come near them, so he obliged and started wandering the surrounding forest. Ah, do not be mistaken and give the child your pity, he really didn't understand that he should be mad or sad at what was happening to him. To him, celebrating say, his birthday, or being bullied gave him the same level of interest. The child's attention gets pulled away very easily, he has been like this since he was born. People that saw him though he was a pitiful child that grew up to become closeted because of his environment, but in reality, he was born with this nature. It's innate.
The main reason why Tih was not interested in the classes is because he didn't completely understand its concept. He has gone to class before, at the orphanage, and he attended Instructor Raphael's class. Both were fairly similar and they were called "classes", so Tih assume that was the extend of them. Tih had already attended classes for multiple year and was already bored of that experience.
What Tih didn't know was that the physical class were very different from the regular classes he had to sit through in the orphanage, but he would soon discover the difference.
