They follow the announcer to arrive at an flat, open area. The entire plot of land is like a weapon graveyard, with man-made tools strung about everywhere the eye can see.
If course they're not just lying in the ground. All the weapons seem to be sticking out of one thing or another.
Tih looks around to see an axe embedded into a rock, a sword stuck in the side of a tree, and basically any kind of tool in any kind of place. There are even non-fighting tools like hammers a blacksmith would use and a pick used by sculptors.
The announcer watches with a smirk as the guests look around the weapon graveyard, speaking up,"𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 to Predecessors' Legacy. This places carries all the legendary weapons from past islanders that made their mark on this island. It's like a museum of famous people throughout the island's history." The announcers speaks with pride.
He points to a silvery-blue marbled long sword," This was left by Acis, who's famously know for breaking multiple trial records through multiple loopholes. He spread his knowledge though pamphlets, earning himself a massive amount of wealth while he was at it. The higher-ups had to revise multiple commonly used trials that had previously worked for years."
Then the announcer points to a giant battle axe," This was owned by Chanes, who victoriously won five annual tournaments in a row, successfully creating multiple new techniques and revitalizing the previously disliked battle axes"
"Pastri, proposed and helped invent the electronic boards and..."
"Ramii, who forged multiple legendary weapons with his hammer. Some of the weapons in here were actually made by him."
" First gave the idea to build a colosseum, helped design and build colosseum one, Ludicrous."
"...creator of the electronic watches."
The announcer lists one achievement after another, not missing a single weapon, not even the smallest tool. The members from headquarters are watching a live broadcast which all this goes on.
"Oh! Isn't this a glaive? It's got a really neat design." Theodore looks towards a pole weapon slid in a boulder.
Tih looks at the gold and black half sticking out of the rock.
"Can I touch it?" Theodore stares at the weapon with intrigue.
"Of course! In fact, if you can pull out any of these weapons, you're allowed to keep it for yourself." The announcer's smirk widens.
"Seriously?!" Not wasting time, Theodore's moves to grab the pole.
The people in the headquarter's conference chuckle at the boy's naivety. The rocks, trees, and floor are made out of a material that makes it physically impossible to pull any of the weapons. The people that are able to put their weapons in Predecessors' Legacy are all legendary figures with unimaginable prowess. Not just anyone can put or take out a weapon, even if they are the tournament winner.
Historically, there has only been one winner that's been able to accomplish this feat, and he only managed to pull out a single, small object.
Headquarters is orders to monitor them in case they try to damage the weapons or surroundings. Winners tend to have high pride and occasionally, they get frustrated when they can't pull anything out, settling with attacking the source of their anger.
Although the weapons are of higher quality than anything a newbie can afford, they can still take damage. Especially when they're sticking out of something, waiting to take the full brunt force of the attack. Headquarters has longer created countermeasures in case something like this happens, but most winners know when to stop, so it's not much of a problem in the first place.
Theodore clutches the pole with two hand before pulling up with brute force. The muscles on his arms become even more defined as he exerts all his strength. After ten seconds with no movement from the glaive's side, Theodore releases the pole with a red face and sharply inhales. Blowing the air out with puffed cheeks, he comes back to the group.
"Good attempt bud." Says Theodore's teacher, patting him on the shoulder.
The announcer comforts him, "This weapon rack of a place is for the strongest people in each generation, to mark their legacy. Each swords represents someone's overwhelming ability and talent, so don't feel too bad for not pulling anything out."
"I bet even the people from headquarters couldn't if they tried. Haha." The announcer adds in a whisper.
The people peeping with the help of the live broadcast glare at the announcer. Some smirk, others sigh, and some raise an eyebrow, but it's a fact that everyone in the meeting room heard the whisper.
"Would anyone else like to try? This challenge is not limited to the students." The announcer turns toward the three teachers.
"Strength Isn't My Strong Suit, So I Believe I'll Pass." Instructor Henri gives a smile.
"Hmm, I cant say it's mine either, but I might as well give it a try." Victor's teacher steps out to try to pull a few different tools, none of which budge.
"I'm probably the strongest out of us three. I'll give it a go too." Theodore's teacher's veins bulge as his attempt at lifting a katana is futile.
"Victor, you should give it a go as well." Victor's teacher says.
Instructor Henri looks towards Tih,"You Can Also Try If You Want To." His words were not as comfortable as Victor's teacher, mainly due to the fact that he met Tih yesterday, and doesn't have a good grasp on the child's personality.
Victor looks towards Tih, expressionless but prideful. The two stone faces stare at each other and Victor speaks up," Lets do it at the same time. The one that manages to pull one out first wins."
The crowd and conference member listen to Victor's prideful words. The announcer looks at Victor with a certain expression," Like I've said, it's not that easy to pull something out." The one thing circling the adults' minds is the boy's conceit. He's obviously expecting to be able to pull something out, even after watching his own teacher fail. "That level of confidence is sure to backfire one day," is what someone watching the broadcast is thinking.
Hearing Victor tell him to pull one of the weapons out, Tih walks over to him. The shorter Tih walks behind Victor as he leads them to two swords side by side.
