I still have that innocent grin printed on my face as Noah enters the dorm. "Thank God you aren't really a serial killer. So, how's it like waiting for hours outside like that?" I can't help but make him more annoyed as before. It's just my nature when it comes to my friends.
He really looks annoyed now, and that gives me joy to my face. Seeing Noah looking irritated is my happy pill. "Standing out there feels like an eternity, but finally, thank God, you've opened the door." I didn't miss the fact that he emphasized the phrase Thank God.
"Thank God indeed." I smile, and suddenly the lights went on. It took the repairman a long time to fix the problem. "Oh, would you look at that. The power is back on." Closing the door and making sure to lock the door behind me. "So, what took you so long to come home?" I head back to my spot on the couch before he steals it from me.
"I got a text from Zhane that she's out from her shift, and she wants me to fill in for her."
Oh, that's right. Noah and his friend Zhane work as a part-time waiter in some diner right around the block from the campus. I've heard that the diner is mostly where students from this campus eat. I want to visit that diner someday, but I don't want to eat, I just want to annoy Noah while he works.
"That's just a very unfortunate day for you, huh?" I give him a sympathetic look. "First waiting forever for me to open the door, then you gotta fill in someone else's shift."
"No need to be sympathetic," He waves off his hand, his eyes glances on the coffee table right in front of the couch. "Have you been drinking coffee?" He turns his gaze to my guilt-filled face.
"I may or may not have drank about 3 cups of coffee in total today." I smile, cursing silently to myself about not cleaning up that mess before opening the door for him.
"I'm quite surprised you haven't started hyperventilating at this moment." He raises an eyebrow at me, crossing his arms over his chest. He may try to look intimidating, but for me, he's like a disappointed child.
"I'm surprised too." I chuckle softly by my mistake that could practically kill me. "I thought I would have died by now from all this caffeine I have in my system."
"Yeah, yeah, thank God that you didn't die." He rolls his eyes at me. I grab the nearest couch pillow and slap it to his obnoxious sarcastic face. I roll my eyes back at him when he lets out a soft chuckle. Now, how should I start this whole Jacob problem to him?
Noah wanders aimlessly in his way towards the sofa, he is still chuckling softly. "You seriously that bored." His voice caught my attention and face towards his direction. He's grinning like a crazy person at me.
"What are you talking about?" I give him a perplexed gaze. He really says random thing out of nowhere that I sometimes couldn't figure out what he means. He's like an alien that doesn't know how to start a conversation. Well, that what makes him, the Noah I know, and I don't want to complain about it.
"You are binge-watching 'How Do Popcorn Pop in Slo-mo'." He stares at the TV, still has that grin printed on his face.
I follow his gaze to the TV, and it is really a show about "How Do Popcorn Pop in Slo-mo" that is showing right now. "You're an asshole, I didn't binge-watch that. It played automatically." I try to reach in for the remote to turn off the TV for a moment, just to stop Noah losing focus on the problem. He may be a good listener, but he gets distracted easily by his surroundings.
"I beg to differ." He pulls out his phone, sitting cross-legged on the sofa. "You said you were waiting for me, right? What's the reason?"
Perhaps this is a great time to mention Jacob? I'm curious about his reaction when I mention his name. "Uhm, yeah. You know Jacob, right?" Fidgeting my fingers as I wait for his response. I also fidget my fingers a lot, it's becoming a bad habit of mine.
