Maeko and Teppei spent the rest of the evening chatting about the next basketball tournaments to come. It wasn't that much of a big deal to Maeko, except for the fact that she missed the old Teiko team. She wasn't in contact with Kuroko anymore so she had no news about them lately. All she knew was that they qualified for the Nationals and would be playing a few months from now.
Maeko sipped from her cup of tea. "I wasn't exactly worried. It was more like I'm curious at how they're handling things from now."
Teppei laughed. "Always a tsundere, Maeko-chan! I could clearly see how anxious you are about them."
Maeko scowled. "I'm not. We're not even that close. But I do miss them at times. I had always loved watching them push themselves towards their goals. It was fun to hang out with them as well."
"If you say so."
The teasing tone in Teppei's voice aggravated Maeko so much that she wanted to throw him out of the hospital window. Teppei was right though. She was so worried about their well-being but she dared not admit that. Rather, she felt that she had no right to worry when they never really spent that much time to begin with.
The only person who dared get close to Maeko was Kuroko and even then, she took some distance since she wasn't sure if he was to be trusted. They lost contact when Kuroko began to reply less and distance himself. She did have a few talks with Akashi, Midorima and Kise, who was an annoyance, but they were mostly casual talks.
"Try visiting Teiko?" offered Teppei.
Maeko shook her head. "I have no reason to. I'll just leave them to their own devices."
