"Bakagami is not coming to training?" asked Maeko, looking around the gym.
The other players shook their heads.
"It's been a week," said Shun, frowning at the doors.
Maeko sighed. Seirin High had just been defeated by Touou High mercilessly. It wasn't just that. They were destroyed at the championship league. She couldn't blame Taiga for not showing up to training. He had been the most frustrated out of all of them, save for Tetsuya who was shaken by the results.
And so, at the late hours of night, Maeko decided to call Shuzo who was luckily already awake.
"Why'd you call so suddenly?"
Maeko frowned. "It's about the basketball team. Their ace has disappeared and has not shown his face the whole week."
A yawn sounded from the phone. "Eh? Give him some time, I guess? You can't really force him to attend. He's not fit to train yet, right? His injury is still healing. Just wait it out and he'll come around."
"I'm worried for them. It's been a week since the championship league. Yet, their performance in training continues to lower down. It's just hard to let go, isn't it?"
Shuzo laughed. "It sounds like we're talking about something else. But yeah, it is hard to move on from that loss. It'll take some time."
"Maybe I should just let them be for a while. They'll come around, I suppose. Seirin Team is strong. I'll try to have more faith in them."
"Yup. And stop stressing yourself too much. You should think about yourself more."
"Hai, okaasan."
"Oi, stop calling me tha – "
"Bye!"
Maeko chuckled as she sat down her desk and prepared her study materials. While she was about to start, a ding from her phone startled her.
From: Teppei
To: Me
Are you tired of waiting for me to come back, Maeko-chan?
Maeko narrowed her eyes. What is he talking about?
From: Me
To: Teppei
Huh? I don't understand what you're saying.
A few minutes later, a reply came.
From: Teppei
To: Me
Maeko-chan, tadaima! I just got out of the hospital a while ago. I'm coming back ^_^
A sigh of relief escaped Maeko's mouth. Seirin High would be a monster by the Winter Cup. A new miracle was coming back.
