9 - storm

Yuri walked back home feeling relieved school was over with for the day. And no one seemed to have brought anything up.

"I guess no one's found it yet" Yuri thought as she turned the handle to her front door.

What will I do when someone does find out?

"Grandma I'm back.." Yuri said feeling numb.

Yuri didn't get a response.

"Grandma?" She said aloud.

Yuri walked over to the kitchen as she froze. Her eyes widened as she found her grandma laying on the ground in the kitchen.

Yuri's grandma was rushed to the hospital as she ran her way over there. They didn't let her in the ambulance.

She made it to the hospital seeing her grandmother being taken to the emergency room.

Just as she was about to after them, out of nowhere someone pulled Yuri's arm, making her stop running.

It was the secretary she always sees in the hospital.

    "Yuri you're not allowed over there!" She said pulling Yuri to face her.

Yuri finally stopped squirming and began to sob. The secretary pulled her in for a hug and Yuri hugged back.

The woman took her to the waiting area where Yuri stayed waiting for news about her grandma. She felt like disappearing from existence.

The woman walked up to her and handed her chocolate.

Yuri couldn't speak, her body wasn't allowing it. All she could do was stare down at her shoes and bite her quivering lip.

The woman sighed and patted Yuri's back.

    "Yuri, you're grandmother is the strongest woman I have ever met." She said.

Yuri looked over at her, still not saying anything.

"I'll be at my desk if you need anything" she said heading off.

Yuri sighed and took a bite from the chocolate.

Is my grandma going to leave me

Yuri hugged her knees, pulling on her sleeves.

Yuri flinched suddenly when there was loud thunder and the power had completely gone off.

"The power's gone out-" people around Yuri said.

Yuri got up from her seat.

Yuri ran to where they took her grandmother earlier in the dark. She couldn't see and assumed nobody would be in the halls when suddenly..

CRASH

Yuri opened her eyes and found herself laying in the ground next to someone.

The lights flickered and she saw a boy around her age.

Yuri finally grabbed her phone and turned the flash on and the boy opened his eyes and stared at her.

    "A-are you okay..?" Yuri asked as she stuttered.

The boy's nose was bleeding..

    "Y-yeah I'm fine.." He responded.

    "Your nose is bleeding-" Yuri said.

    "Huh? Oh don't worry it's nothing..!" The boy said, noticing the blood.

The lights went back on and they got a better look at each other. Both of their eyes bolted wider as they saw each other.

    "O-oh sorry..!" He said helping Yuri up.

    "No I should be the one who's sorry I knocked you over and made your nose bleed-"

    "No it's fine seriously-" He explained.

    "Let's get you cleaned up.."
