20 - warmth

"Ah~! It's so exciting finally being able to meet you Yuri~" Bahiyyih said as the two sat on her bedroom floor.

"You knew about me already-?" Yuri asked semi flustered.

"Of course- Kai is always talking about you, he never shuts up you actually" She said, grabbing her hair brush and smoothing out Yuri's messy locks.

He's always talking about me?

"What's it like being Kai's sibling?" Yuri laughed as Bahiyyih tapped her chin in thought.

"It's- well very chaotic that's for sure-" Bahiyyih said as if she were getting war flashbacks, "But he's overall a good person to be around,"

"Yeah he is-" Yuri blurted out.

"Don't move I'm going to do your hair~"

A few minutes go by and Kai has finished up on his homework as he realizes the two had been awfully quiet- Huening Kai gets up from his desk and across the hall as he opens Bahiyyih's bedroom door as his lips slightly part-

"Oh hey Hyuka~" Bahiyyih said noticing her brother at the doorway as Yuri turned revealing her pretty side-braided hair.

He felt his face scrunch up a bit as his face stung with heat.

"A-Are you going to the dinner table like that-?"

"Of course she is~" Bahiyyih said, hugging Yuri as she laughed.

"What do you think?" Yuri asked as she stood up closer to him.

Kai backed up a bit nervously, "It looks very lovely on you-" His ears stung.

"Guys the dinner is ready-!" They heard a voice come from downstairs.

Their older sister was surprised to see another person come down the stairs with them.

"Bahiyyih is this a friend of yours?" Lea asked, her hands on her hips.

"Nope it's Kai's~" Bahiyyih said pointing at her older brother as he flinches.

"Oh hello! Nice to meet you" She smiled warmly.

Why did her smile warm me up so much inside?

"Well don't be rude and offer her a drink Kai-!" Lea said bonking the back of his head.

"Ouch-!" He yelped as Yuri covered her smile.

"So how's school going for you three?" Lea asked as they all sat at the dinner table.

It felt odd- Yuri had grown used to eating on her own- despite only being four of us, the table felt crowded-?

"It's going well! It's boring though.." Bahiyyih said as she poked her food.

"Yeah school can be boring- and you Kai?" Lea said pointing her chopsticks at him.

"School's okay, it's been a lot better after I met Yuri," Kai said biting down into his food.

Yuri's face stung from that one little comment-

"W-what" Yuri muttered flustered.

"I'm done- c'mon Yuri we've got some new video games we can try them out together-!" Bahiyyih said grabbing Yuri's hand as they walked into the living room.

Yuri felt like she was in a new city looking at all the buildings- compared to her parents' house it was much more bright and lively- there were picture frames of the family practically everywhere she turned.

"Oh wow- who's that?" Yuri asked as she walked up to one of the framed pictures.

"That's all of us when were younger, our dad really likes traveling," Bahiyyih explained, "That's us in China"

"Oh wow, it looks so pretty" Yuri said looking at the photo.

"Have you ever traveled out of Korea?" Bahiyyih suddenly asked.

"Yeah I did, once-" Yuri said remembering back to the mental hospital-

She felt sick and anxious just thinking back to it. Instead of getting better over there she believes she got worse- despite being around children who can relate to her..

"Oh where to?" Bahiyyih kept asking unaware of what Yuri was thinking.

"Oh Japan- it's my other homeland," Yuri smiled trying her best to forget about the stupid mental hospital.

And him.

A couple hours passed and Yuri had forgotten all about someone being in her house and the mental hospital- she felt, happy?

Why am I feeling this way?

I haven't felt this way in a while now ..

Am I allowed to feel this way?

It feels surreal- because I know now,

What it feels like to have a family.

This must be what family feels like.

Warm.

Comforting.

Supportive.

Safe.

I feel like this is home.

If this is all a coma dream, I don't want to wake up.

"Is Yuri staying over for the night?" Bahiyyih asked as they put the video game consoles away.

"Yeah- she came back to her home to find the door unlocked so it kinda spooked her-" Kai said.

"Oh you poor thing-" Lea said grabbing a pair of clothes for Yuri.

"You can sleep with me Yuri," Bahiyyih offered as Yuri got the weird warm feeling again.

"Sure that'd be nice" Yuri smiled.

"Good- because Kai moves too much in his sleep heh," Bahiyyih teased.

"I do not-" Kai said crossing his arms.

"Yeah yeah- let's get to bed Yuri" Bahiyyih said as she held Yuri's hand leading her to her bedroom once more.
