This chapter takes place in England, 1665.  For England, it's the end of the Renaissance Era, but for Octavia, it's a new century for a threat to rise.

I'm trying to follow the events of Godric's past leading up to the start of Season 2. This chapter and the next one are written in the past that revolve around the flashbacks given by Eric later in the shows' seasons.

By this century, Octavia has grown, as well as her magic. She has learned how to survive on her own but also hide in the shadows. With the help of her witch lineage, she can walk in the sun, a secret unknown to all vampires and humans so far.

With her feet barely tapping the ground as she ran through the night, Octavia Sera rushed to get beneath a covering of any sort. She knew it was smart to blend in with the other vampires in the surrounding area to travel as they did. As a small town in England came into view, she felt a strong scratching in the back of her throat, signaling thirst. She hadn't fed in what seemed like months as weeks had only gone by. Away from her Godric's side, she learned to adjust in various ways, including drinking from humans without killing them and what she preferred. But what seemed easy for most vampires was quite difficult to Octavia due to her unusual ability to perform magic as she did when she was human. Most blood she drank became poisonous to her, as she would throw up the blood within minutes of drinking it. It seemed like drinking human blood was a sin to Octavia. It was possibly a consequence of becoming a vampire in the first place, but unfortunately, it was not done by her choice.

Stepping beneath a covered alleyway made of stone from the houses that sat opposite the other, Octavia shook away the anxiety as she searched for a place to stay. This small town was unfamiliar to her, as most major cities during this time period were to anyone. She had only lived in small places, such as villages, so with something as large as this town in England, it was safe to say she was more alert. Octavia felt as if she was in a foreign land as people who were deathly ill sat along the walls leading towards the middle of the town.

With just a sniff in the air, she smelled it: death. These people were struck by a plague that will never harm Octavia. For a moment, she allowed herself to feel the human pain of knowing her life was ending. She once felt that too and accepted death with open arms because her own body wasn't strong enough. But she snapped back to reality when she watched a vampire, whom she didn't recognize, feed on an innocent woman who the deadly plague had just touched.

Just by the sight of the scene, Octavia felt deathly sick. The smell of the blood was disgusting as it smelled like days-old bile and feces. Covering her face deeper within the dark grey hood she wore, Octavia stalked away from the wretched smell. Finding a place to shelter down in was far more important than finding food. At least to her, it was. The further she walked away from the fresh smell of blood that would surely lure more vampires, male voices caught her attention as she recognized them. It was as if time hadn't changed their tones at all. She could picture the two vampires from centuries ago, their faces haunting her thoughts.

"Invisique"  With a quick spell to make herself invisible, she placed her back against a stone wall and inched her way forward. Leaning against the rocky surface that pricked through her dress, she hesitantly glanced around the corner to see both vampires, dressed differently but looked like they had before. Her violet eyes fell on the oldest vampire's attire and face. He hadn't changed at all, despite the change of era in his clothes.

Godric.

Thinking of only his name as any sound would cause her spell to break around her, Octavia tried so hard to understand the foreign language between the two as they spoke to one another, yet failed to translate it. But using her ability of telepathy to listen in on their thoughts, Octavia could feel different things coming from both vampires. It seemed that Godric knew she was in town long before she was miles away.
