This chapter takes place in Augsburg, Germany, in 1945.
280 years later from the last chapter.
Thanks to creating a new spell, Octavia has not been tracked by Godric and Eric until an expected wound is revealed, along with a new threat Octavia was well aware of before this chapter.
Both vampires lied in wait on the second floor above the main surface of the household. Two dead bodies laid in a pool of blood as Eric silently conversed with his maker. Eric could sense the odd creature in the house, though Godric replied with a simple answer of waiting. Godric could feel his progeny's impatience to attack and snatch information. Still, when the door to the room opened, it revealed that an American soldier had fallen into the creature's trap as well. The war outside had gone on for many nights as fires flickered in the windows.
The American soldier bent down next to the bodies to examine the damage when a sound erupted in his ears, his gun suddenly aiming towards a closet. With cautious steps towards the closet, whimpering could be heard from the opposite side as the soldier opened the door. A cowering woman without much clothing sat against the wall in what looked like fear. Then, speaking in another language the soldier didn't understand, he slowly but surely lowered his rifle to the ground near him.
"It's going to be alright. I won't hurt you." The soldier spoke with a gentle tone as he began to rid himself of the outer jacket to cover the woman.
The human didn't know of the vicious creature before him and how misleading the situation was. As Godric and Eric waited for the human to be attacked, the woman snarled under her breath before lunging for an attack. Snatching the screaming man's neck, the transforming creature bit down hard and began to eat her prey out, killing him instantly. Both species in that house knew the human had no chance of survival. With vampire speed, both Godric and Eric jumped down from the hiding places as the creature took note of a new and threatening presence. With a snarl coming from the Viking vampire, the dog barked and growled at the creature.
With the anticipation of the creature readying herself to attack his first progeny, Godric took immediate action to protect him. By rushing over to grab the gun left by the dead soldier, the vampire maker had no regard for being gentle as he stabbed the dog in the leg. Transforming back into her human form, it was clear what creature both vampires were suddenly dealing with. The woman screamed in pain as the object holding her refused to budge. Speaking in her language, the werewolf spoke about them being on the same side. It was clear the vampires' actions sent her into an outraged state as Eric stepped forward to pull back some of her hair, revealing a mark that caused him pain and hatred for her kind. Displeased with the mark, Eric refused her, speaking that they were not on the same side as she thought.
As he did, Godric could only step back as his first progeny took control of the scene before him. It wasn't until then Godric had felt a massive pain coming from his second progeny, the hybrid Octavia Sera. Through their special bond, he could feel her in an immense amount of pain, needing his assistance. By the sudden pull through their bond, Godric could sense she was close. The urge to go to her was too strong, but he needed to stay by Eric's side. As private spies for a special operation, they needed as much information they could get from the woman before them. Watching Eric stab the werewolf with a silver knife, she screamed in pain as Godric could only watch from the sidelines and admire. In seconds of stabbing her in different places, Eric commanded her about who her master was. Screaming into her face, Eric stabbed her again as she screamed louder this time. With hands wrapping around the other, Godric stood in silence.
