Chapter 28 - Aspiring Lover

Maximus' pov:

Ι woke up in the middle of the night with an inner need to go and see her. I knew she had the door locked but that wouldn't stop me. I managed to get into her room and found her sleeping peacefully. I approached her and kissed her softly on the forehead. Goosebumps rose everywhere in my body. I love the feeling her touch leaves in me. I sat on the armchair that was next to her bed and watched her sleeping until I fell asleep.

Early in the morning I woke up and returned to my room. I took a quick shower and headed to the training fields. For the first time in my life I felt light and happy. The strangest thing was that all these feelings were caused because I spent the whole night sleeping in the same room with her! That was absurd!

During my training a thought oppressed my mind. Why so suddenly I felt so dependent on her? I couldn't imagine my life without her. I wanted to have her constantly around me, to see her, smell her, kiss and caress her. What was happening to me? I had done so well in the beginning. I had pushed her away and taken her out of my life. Why did she have to come back and have the power to influence me so much?

Deep inside me I knew that this was wrong. I couldn't let myself to be attached to her. If I did, it wouldlbe the end of me.

I finished training with my warriors, took a quick shower and headed to my office. Many issues had to be resolved. The time to claim the throne was not long. There were only six months left. With the preparations of the Luna's ceremony and my accident most of them were left behind. I got in and Chris was already waiting for me sitting in one of the chairs typing in his laptop. He looked up and greeted me.

-"Good morning Max".

-"Morning Chris".

-"I see that someone didn't have a good time last night. At least you should be satisfied with the Ceremony. Everything went well" Chris told me.

-"Yesterday was a very difficult day, but I have to admit it. The Luna's ceremony was successful. We made a very good impression to the Council and the other Alphas. That's more than enough to me" I told him.

-"You know that the cause of success was no other than Adelina. The Council members were thrilled by her. She proved to be a very smart woman with a wide range of knowledge that can comfortably fill the position of the Queen of all werewolves. Even I was stunned by her abilities and the brilliance of her character. I wonder how you thought that Jina could take such a position. She is completely useless "Chris commented.

As always his comments are to the point. It's now clear to me that Jina was unable to fulfil the position of Luna let alone the position of the Queen! She is so unsophisticated and common. Her knowledge on several matters is insufficient or better say non-existent while Adelina proved more than enough yesterday in many fields. I must admit that she has a big variety of knowledge.

-"Enough with the ceremony, we have much more important issues to deal with. First we must find out the reason behind Nicolas stay and which will be his next plans. Second, inform Sonia that I want her here till midnight. Third, I want more information about the financial agreement between Jake and Nicolas packs. Tell Adelina to come to my office asap".

-"She can't" Chris replied.

-"Why she can't?" I asked agitated.

-"Cause she's gone to the hospital" Chris said

-"What is she doing there?" I asked frustrated.

-"Last time I checked she works there" Chris said ironically.

-"She doesn't have to work anymore. Oh my Goddess! What's wrong with this woman?" I exclaimed frustrated. I just can't understand this woman. Why does she have to behave so strangely?
