Chapter 30 - The Sorceress

Maximus' pov:

We arrived at the pack house and after I left Adelina in her room I headed to my office. The sorcerous was on her way and would be here any second now, as Chris informed me. Adelina was silent throughout the return journey and that was something that troubled me. It seems that she has many inhibitions regarding giving us a second chance. I really do not believe that eventually she will be persuaded. She treats the whole theme with great prejudice and this deeply bothers me, a lot! I wonder if her acquaintance with Nicolas has something to do with her reluctance. I will wait what Sonia has to say about it and then I'll act accordingly. As always I face every problem when it arises. This tactic has shaped me all these years and made me what I am today and I am not gonna change it this time....

I was in my office dealing with some pack matters, when I heard a knock on my door. Chris entered with the sorceress, Sonia. She was a tall, thin woman with long black hair and exotic turquoise eyes. She wore black all over, as always. Despite her beauty, I knew that she was a very dangerous woman. I couldn't be more certain about it. I've seen what she was capable of in those who betrayed her trust and I honestly wouldn't want to be one of them. It was better to be her friend than her enemy! As soon as she entered, a wave of absolute power struck the room. She stared me straight in the eyes and told Chris to leave us alone. He willingly followed without even asking me for permission. That woman is incredible! She could rule the whole world with her powers if she wanted to. She slowly approached my desk like a predator its prey, without taking her gaze off me. Few people can do this when I am around. Usually I am the predator not the prey. She stood in front of me for some seconds. I have to admit that her ways and tactics are very intimidating but unfortunately to her, don't apply to me.

-"Alpha Maximus" she said and bowed.

I made her a sign to sit and she sat on one of the chairs. I've known Sonia since the days my father was searching for my mother. In the end he didn't manage to find her, although I strongly believe that Sonia purposely prevented him from finding her in the end. When I became the Alpha, Sonia was the only one who warned me for my uncle's treason and his intention to kill me. Since then, I consult her whenever I have a problem or want to achieve something.

She looked at me with penetrating eyes. It was like she was waging me somehow.... I'm sure she knew what I wanted from her. Probably she was curious on what way I was going to ask her....

-"Long time no see. What brings me here today Alpha?" she asked calmly.

-"Ι want your prediction for the new Luna".

-"Allow me first, to express my warmest congratulations to you. I've told you before that your Luna was out there and you should look for her, but as always you don't listen to me, not until it's too late" she commented in a strict way.

-"Oh stop whining now. I found her and that's what really counts! I want to know what the future holds for me. I want to know if Adelina would be a good Luna."

-"Oh the Luna and her controversial character...... I think your priest saw good omens the day of the Luna's Ceremony but I know you..... So here's how are we going to do it...I want you to think about those questions while I will be shuffling the cards. When I'll tell you to stop, your mind will go blank and I will deal the cards on the table. Are you ready?"

-"Yes" I said and made her a sign to continue. She began shuffling the cards with great dexterity and speed. Then she dealt most of the cards on the desk while she held the rest in her left hand. She looked me in the eyes and told me to stop which I did. After some minutes of absolute silence I broke it with a question.

-"So?" I asked her with impatience.

She lifted her head up and told me "Don't rush me". Then she dealt some more cards, stopped and looked me straight in the eyes. Her eyes had turned into grey indicating that the Goddess was already in her, possessing her body.
