Shravan Malhotra, this name had always made people halt from whatever they were doing. Still, after so many years, when they heard that their previous boss, the rightful heir of Malhotra Corporation had returned, they couldn't stop themselves to hope for a better future. It was not that Saahil wasn't a good leader, he managed the companies just fine. But again, the difference between just fine and spectacular were two different things.
"I was here just to meet Saahil." Shravan's voice rumbled through the reception, when Mr Shrivastava, an older marketing manager asked him if he had finally seen God.
"Aren't you coming back?" Mr Shrivastava's feeble question made Shravan smile.
Shravan came to meet Saahil because of his father Ramnath who had included his grandchildren in his will, and Shravan needed to meet the lawyer to know if there was a way to omit the names. But again much to his chagrin, the lawyer said nothing can be done.
Shravan came to his apartment, which he had bought a long time ago when he was still the CEO of the Malhotra Corp. Somehow he had managed to withhold the property even when he was going through the financial crisis initially.
"I'm home." The moment his voice resonated, Sameer and Samaira ran towards him.
"Dad, please ask Sameer to take the other room." Samaira rattled in her perfect British accent. Yes, both the children had a British accent, and they mostly talked in English when angry.
"Oh, come on! I was there first." Sameer replied calmly.
"Keep me out of this." Shravan surrendered, "Where is your mother?"
When the children didn't bother to reply and kept arguing, he decided it's better to find his Sumo on his own. And there she was, putting all the clothes neatly in the cupboard. She is in her pyjamas. Her hair had been tied in a haphazard bun. Sensing Shravan she looked back and smiled.
Something jolted in Shravan's heart. Twelve years into this blissful marriage yet his heart still galloped faster than a pony every time he saw his wife. How he thanked the lord that this magnificent woman had decided to stay by his side. That's too when he didn't make it easier for her.
There were times when Shravan would stay awake just to watch her sleep all night. Yes, when they got married he was on the verge of being mentally stable or at least that's what Mr Pattinson had said. Sumo too agreed that there was no point in waiting and how she made her family accept Shravan was another story.
Still, that fear of abandonment was lurking around. Shravan would wake up in the night just to see if Sumo was still beside him. Shravan chuckled humourlessly, those were some days. He was still ashamed of himself for how he had reacted when he first came to know about the pregnancy. And how he told Sumo that he was not ready to become a father. How he feared he would do something horrible to Sumo just like his father Ramnath did to Nirmala. After all, blood is thicker than water.
Though that's the only time he had seen her wrath. She gave him an ultimatum, if he didn't do something about his insecurities, he would have to forget about her. But all his insecurities went straight down the drain when Sumo forced him to go to the gynaecologist.
Those tiny little creatures in Sumo's tummy were actually his blood and bone. He had again created something so beautiful that even in the ultrasound he could swear that was the most beautiful scene he had ever seen. What amazed him more when the doctor announced, Sumo and he were to have a boy and a girl. Even then Sumo had given him the perfect family. A son and a daughter, though he was a bit partial to his daughter but his son was also the replica of him.
