I closed the dishwasher to let it run, hoping the dishes get clean before my parents get here, knowing my mother would comment about it. I let out a soft sigh, running my hands through my hair as my stress levels increase. Ever since Luke went down a dark path, I was claimed as the older sibling, practically playing the part too. My parents look at me as the responsible one, the one to take care of my siblings when they can't. Don't get me wrong, they were wonderful parents, it's just, they have a habit of making things a big deal when they really aren't. Which is why I was tempted to shoving everyone in the barn till they leave, but they have to meet them at some point. All I have to do is lay down some ground rules while they are here.
"Um, Kenways?" I spoke, catching the three's attention immediately. "Would you mind simply referring to each other as cousins for the time being?" I questioned, looking up at them nervously.
"Of course lass, we were just thinking the same thing." Edward answered, crossing his arms as he leaned up against the wall.
"We deemed it wise just to ease your parents a bit." Haytham added, clasping his hands behind his back while Connor nodded, giving me a soft smile.
I smiled up at them, "Thank you." I then turned away walking over to Desmond as he entered back into the house dripping with sweat, his shirt covered in horse hair. "Horses good?"
"Yeah, all groomed." Desmond stated as he walked into his room to change. I rolled up my sleeves as I myself began to grow warm inside the house from moving around so much.
I then turn my head towards the front door once I hear the doorbell ring. "They're here!" I called out, hoping Desmond would hear along with everyone else that was scattered about. I opened the door to find a woman with mid length (h/c) hair, tanned skin, and bright baby blue eyes, looking about my height or just an inch shorter. There was a male stand next to her with a stubble beard, short blonde locks, (e/c) eyes, and (s/c) skin.
"Mom! Dad!" I say as I reached out to hug the both of them, the two people at the door hugged me in return, bright smiles on their faces. "How was the drive?" I questioned as I stepped aside allowing them to walk in taking their coats, hanging them on the jacket hooks just as Desmond rounded the corner.
"Desmond! Oh my god it's good to see you! How have you been?" My mother exclaimed, smiling as she walked over pulling Desmond into a tight hug as my father crossed his arms as he glared at Desmond slightly. I could visibly see Desmond tense as his eyes locked on my father's before he pulled away from my mom.
"N-Nice to see you again Mr.(L/N)." Desmond stuttered as he walked up to my father, holding out his hand as my father simply glanced down at it before looking at Desmond, sweat dripping down his forehead.
"Mom! Um shall we start dinner?" I say, breaking the tension in the air as I turned around to see my mother was nowhere in sight. "Mom?" I call out as I move into the kitchen, looking into the living room to see her talking with the others, specifically Ezio while Malik and Altair notice my presence looking over towards me, simply shrugging.
"Oh my, you all are handsome young men, and a beautiful couple, also a lovely lady." She stated nodding towards Evie, Henry, and Rebecca, a smile on her face. "Sweetheart, why didn't you tell me you had so many fine men in your home?" She questioned as a faint blush dusted my cheeks.
I simply smiled sheepishly as I spoke, "These are some old friends I met during ... college. They are ... my team in the field." Making up something at the top of my head.
"Your team huh?" I nearly jumped out of my skin as my father spoke firmly behind me.
"Why yes, last month we went to Egypt once we found out one of the missing pyramids was discovered." Haytham put in, catching onto the lie quickly as he clasped his hands behind his back.
