Chapter 10

  "Geass?" Cain pulls away from his sister and studies her eyes, he admits to himself that Y/n has pretty eyes, ones that a person can't take their eyes off of. She looks confused, but she doesn't peel her eyes away from her brother, who knows what trick he's up to. 

  "Should I show you then?" Y/n closes her eyes out of reflex and turns away, "Sister, how did you know?"

  She still doesn't look at him, "what do I...I know what?"

  "To use geass, you need eye contact. At least that's what I know."

Y/n is shaking in her seat, gripping tightly onto his shoulder, she doesn't know what Cain will do or how to get out of it, "calm down, we're at the restaurant now." He gets out of the car and escorts his sister out of the car and hurries to meet their mother inside.

"Good evening mother," she curtsies perfectly with grace, and gives her mother a bright smile, "I've missed you."

Her mother reaches out and caresses her daughter's cheek, "I trust that you've been fairing well?"

"Of course, mother, " Y/n sits down and it seems that she's caught the eye of not only men but some women too with her elegance and beauty. The same goes for Cain, except he catches a lot more female attention, while their mother's presence was intimidating enough to keep unwanted strangers away from her children. The family just stands out too much, especially if their father was present. The appetizers and the main course seemed to go by smoothly until Cain spoke up.

"I'm so surprised that Clovis died so suddenly..."

"Weren't you two working on that? What will you do now?" Their mother hushes down her voice.

"It will most likely be stopped, but I have I'll keep on pursuing it personally." Cain digs his knife into his steak, "and I was hoping for Y/n to help me." A mischievous smile curls his lips as looks at his family.

"Absolutely not, Cain." Her voice went from hushed to loud and stern.

"My dear sister doesn't even know about it yet," he glances at her, hoping Y/n would actually speak up and ask something for once.

"She must not learn about it in any situation." The dinner ended awkwardly, but despite the conversation, their mother let Cain drop Y/n back to campus by himself. She was simply too annoyed at her stepson to be in the same room with him any longer.

Y/n looks into her brother's eyes while they're in the car, his eyes seem to be like the color of a smooth stone, with no signs of it shining. "Cain, what did you and Prince Clovis even work on. Does it have to do with Geass?"

"Ah, you catch on fast, Y/n," he sounds pleased, "most people don't catch onto the hints that I give them, so I'm quite impressed."

"Please explain it all to me, big brother, I really don't know about it." She grabs onto Cain's hand and grips it tightly. He looks down at her hands and grabs it a bit too tightly, "even though you've gotten bigger, your hands still look like a child's in my eyes."

Cain looks into her eyes that seem to be filling up with more resolve, "just because you see my hands that way, I don't want to be treated like a child anymore."

He squeezes her hands harder, causing Y/n to wince, "do you say that to Schneziel too?"

"Huh...? No, he treats me like his fiance." She looks at her brother confused, she doesn't know why he started to get irritated.

"I know Schneziel has a strange taste, but he's about to marry a girl who's barely even legal while he's almost thirty. Don't you find that disgusting?"

"But-" Y/n tried to find the words to justify her parent's and fiance's actions, but the fact that is creepy even though this kind of thing is ignored, she really couldn't say anything, "stop changing the subject. Tell me about that secret project about geass."

He lets go of her hands and looks at the city instead, burying his chin into his hand, "well let's schedule a day when we can talk about it. There's too much to talk about in such little time."

Cain looks at his sister again and smiles at her, "just if you see a woman with green hair, I suggest taking time on deciding to make a contract with her or not...That's only if you have a will to live of course." He suddenly starts laughing loudly, and he's pleased to see his sister grow uneasy. "It looks like we're here," he kisses Y/n's forehead, making her goosebumps crawl all over her skin, "goodnight my dear sister, and stay safe out there."

Y/n is pushed out of the car forcibly by Cain, and it drives away even before she could get up. "Jeez...His words are so contradicting...But that chauffeur..." The more she thought about it, the driver wasn't the usual one. The usual one always talked back to Cain because he was under their mother's order, but this one did not say one word, and she seemed to know exactly what kind of dramatic exit Cain wanted.

"I guess it's to be expected...Brother is going to be the next Duke so maybe our mother's influence and support might be decreasing in favor of him...That's quite the shame." Y/n knows her brother, and in her opinion, Cain doesn't fit the Duke position at all. "I have a feeling he's going to abuse his power right under the Emperor's nose..."

Y/n headed straight towards her dorm with her back straighter than usual, "I need more power...There are too many things being hidden from me."

As soon as she got to her room, she took out her journal and wrote:

-Schedule an appointment with Cain and talk about the important topic

-Pressure Lelouch into revealing his secrets to me

-gain more power and influence through my marriage and take Cain out of power

-somehow make Schneizel Emperor for more power if needed...might be needed since he seems the most qualified...But if it's Euphy then I'll support her to become Empress

Y/n hasn't seen Euphemia in a while because of school, but she knows Euphy's heart and passion are fit for an Empress. But out of all of her new goals, whoever takes the throne is the least of her worries right now. The first three are the most important to her, especially the Lelouch one. I don't want friends who hide things."
